you will see lots of people run as fast as possible through maps and zones but I agree with Bob… When leveling, and especially the first time when you’re unfamiliar with the story, I usually take my time and just go at a pace that I find enjoyable. There’s no reason that says you have to rush. You’re not competing against anyone!
OK, thanks guys. Made a character named DuncanMunro if there is room in the guild. Doubtful I can contribute much to the guild at this point but I’m happy to join and maybe donate stuff later.
Invite sent! And don’t be concerned about balancing input and output from the stash. It’s all there because we want someone to use it!
Got it. Thanks. I’ve been in many guilds over the years and always try to give more than I get. It will take a while to get to that point in PoE.
The 1-9 and 10-19 unique pages are almost 100% full of stuff (in fact, I was unable to throw a few duplicates in, and I took one duplicate item out and put it in my own stash). Please use the stuff in there!!!
I borrowed a belt that was better than mine. I “assume” stuff is not character bound so when you are done with it you can just put it back?
Yep! Which will often happen when you level up enough to wear the next belt in the stash. :)
So talk to me about crafting. I am interested in getting a specific mod on a shield. The mod is “+1 to number of summoned totems”
You need a shield of the proper iLevel (75+ I believe).
I’ve seen one discussion about how to get it by using the Syndicate system: get a shield with 1 prefix and 3 suffixes. Get Aisling to level 3 in Research. Uh… hit up the Research safehouse? Add a veiled mod to the shield. Unveil it and cross your fingers.
A variation of that is to get a shield with the mod for “cheap” (like <15 chaos), then take the mod off and have Aisling put it back on. I assume after you take the mod off you craft the shield to have more of the specific stats you want rather than the random assortment you’ll get it with. I think this works because the mods put on the shield are fixed so if it has the mod and you remove it and re-add veiled mods, you will get it again.
Now I typed the above but I have no idea how to do that.
A second way might be something mentioned by Mathil in a video. He claimed he “alteration spammed” a shield until it got the +1 totem mod, and then he “multi-modded” the shield to give him what he wanted. Will alteration spamming work? And if so, how many alterations would you think I’d use?
I also have no idea how you do most of that too!
So I guess the two questions are:
- Is there a good guide to how to work the Syndicate system? and
- Any good guide on advanced (or maybe intermediate!) crafting?
Afraid I can’t be much help on the crafting front. All I’ve ever really done is straighforward “add one thing to an already good rare at the crafting table.” If I can’t find something on the market, I generally just do without.
There’s probably guides out there, but can’t say I’ve ever really looked for them. Maybe someone on the official forums could point to one?
Got a little burned out on the minions (yes, even I get tired of them occasionally) and decided to start up a new toon a few days ago. ImpactorOfLivers came about because I thought “what if I used a lot of flasks and also poison,” largely because of the Coralito’s Signature in the stash. I’m using Cobra Lash because of the built-in chain, Herald of Agony for the Agony Crawler minion, and Bane to apply the Despair curse. The early going was a bit rough, but once I picked up some poison passive nodes and the first ascendancy around level 40, it’s been working pretty well. Poison takes a little while to work so boss fights last longer than they do with a horde of minions, but it’s doable, and regular zone clearing works great. She’s all evasion-based so occasionally a big hit just kills her, but that’s only happened a couple of times on metamorphs. Completely different playstyle from the minions, which is what I was looking for. I doubt she’ll last much past yellow maps because she’ll die all the time, but that’s OK, I have Sara’s minions for the hard stuff.
Almost every time I try to play I get the following error at least once while trying to connect:
Disconnected. Your authentication for instance transfer was invalid.
Anybody else get this and know of a setting that might fix it? Thanks.
Yes, I get these. I finally discovered that it’s when it’s trying to connect to a server that’s blocked by PeerBlock/PeerGuardian, whatever software like that which you’re using. Each time it happened to me, I went in and white listed that server so it won’t happen again. And now I’ve got it to a point where it’s not happening to me.
Interesting. Never even heard of Peer Block/Peer Guardian. Maybe a setting on my Avast firewall?
Whenever I see you on that toon I think “that’s a great name!”
I created a Divine Ire Totem Hierophant for the same reason. It’s pretty fun but requires running around in circles MORE than a Necro does, because the Divine Ire spell has to build up to 20 stacks before the totem fires off. The good thing is that it has been obliterating everything so far. Only died a few times to stupid stuff (once early on, once on a tough metamorph and died to Kitava 1st time when he was at like 1%). I’m using a video by Mathil as the base and his stuff is interesting - he definitely does not hold your hand. He goes through the build so fast and presents all sorts of alternatives in a casual manner that I spent a bit of my time rewatching the video over and over, trying to interpret what he’s saying like it’s ancient hieroglyphics.
On a trip for the holidays and I’m already having PoE withdrawals. Arggghhh.
Thanks! Triple meaning, even. :) The league, obviously. Drinking lots of flasks, got to be an issue for livers. And an inside joke from my consulting days, when a new trip to notorious bar-town Lacrosse WI would prompt a spate of emails from all involved saying “prepare livers for impact!”
Dude. The liver is evil and must be punished. It is the way.
I got white boots. I was playing a Witch, who doesn’t have boots in appearance, so it doesn’t look like I’m wearing white boots even with them activated. I’m kind of glad. She would look really dumb with white boots.
