My bad, the tab was suspended at the time. I wasn’t paying close attention. Fixed. Anyway, it’s just burnowa’s King of Summoners build. But I think the guide does a great job underscoring the points. You can run summoners just fine on shit gear. Eventually you’ll want a 5-link.

got it,thanks. Do you know if that’s about equally true for the new animate-ethereal-weapon summoners?
I’d say the answer to that is “probably.” The thing to keep in mind, if you read the patch notes, is that Animate Weapon had been bugged since… forever, it seems… and so they fixed it - and IMHO when GGG does things like that, they tend to overbalance things. While it’s true they lowered the number of animated weapons you can have out, I suspect it’s because they are a lot more powerful. Plus, with skills like that, you scale them with gem level, support gems, and skill points (minion skills, duh), and those items are all easy to come by (easier than getting a specific chase unique).
And tell the truth, if they turn out to suck or not do much damage you could pretty easily pivot to a zombie build.
I’m back playing Return of Reckoning (Warhammer Online private server). So I might skip this league, or at least come in later after I see what folks think of it here.

New plan, play 3 builds at once and don’t sleep.😀
Only partly joking, I really need an escape from the news this weekend.
Amen on that. Gaming is helping both me and my wife cope with this, um, excitement. Though playing The Division 2 like I have been isn’t exactly distancing me from pandemics…
okay, new plan… I am trying to decide between two builds. First one is the animate weapon build linked above. The question about that build is how well it will do since this is uncharted territory.
The second build I’m thinking about is another new build that I just ran across… Zizaran’s Volatile Dead Spellslinger build. The link above is a video about it as I do not think he does written guides. Spellslinger is a new mechanic introduced in Delirium which sounds interesting and potentially powerful. Of course the outstanding question is again how this entirely new mechanic will work and whether it will scale well. However, Zizara is pretty experienced and he thinks it will be very powerful and I’m inclined to believe him. One aspect of his builds that I really like is in his path of building link he spells out the tree at various leveling points (20, 40, 60 points and so forth, and he lists spells to use while leveling. In addition, he has extensive notes in his PoB builds describing various aspects of the build. One nice aspect of this build is that he doesn’t think there will be chase uniques necessary for the build. So gearing should be pretty good. I will probably dabble between these two builds and see how each of them feels in the early leveling. Or I can do my typical PoE strategy, which is start one build, get it to around 60, feel it’s not that good and abandon it for a completely different build 3 days into the league!
Do we know what time today the updated will hit steam? I haven’t really played POE in a while but I’m looking forward to trying out the new league. I don’t like to have a pre-planned build so I’m just going to go SSF with the Ranger class and see how far I can get before my build doesn’t work anymore.
The client says the league starts at 1p PST.
I think the update from the other day contained all the client-side assets, so there’s not an additional update required.
Nice, looks like I’ll be too sick to work at about 1pm today then.
Yeah, I hear ya. Unfortunately, I’m stuck in meetings until at least 3p. I can’t even be annoyed about it, 'cuz they’re my meetings!
I saw a post from GGG saying the updater will be live at 1 PM EDT, and the league will start at 4. Don’t forget to download a new loot filter also from filterblade.xyz
GGG also released a torrent link for the update (but warned the total torrent download would be larger since you’d have to get the whole client and not just the diffs). Also the non-steam patch was something like 3.4 GB while the steam patch was 10. I don’t play it through Steam so nyah nyah!
Also, I often can’t connect or play the day of a league start, so I often have had to update on Friday and not play until early Saturday morning. So those of you who can’t start today aren’t necessarily missing out.
Luckily all my meetings were yesterday and today is my work from home day. I tend to put in 10-11 hour days during the rest of the week so I don’t feel guilty doing a half day on Fridays.
Yep. PDT, not PST (I will get that wrong for at least another month), but yeah.
The realm goes down and patching begins at: Mar 13, 2020 10:00 AM (PDT)
The servers go live at: Mar 13, 2020 1:00 PM (PDT)
Also, the steam download just showed up for me, 10.4GB
That’s just some craziness. I switched to the non-steam version a few months ago in an effort to mitigate some of my network connection issues. (Still have some issues, but it does seem a bit better.) Sure does make patch day easier when it’s something like 1/3 the patch size!
This is true but with Steam it will just start whenever it lands versus having to be at your PC and log onto the server to start your download.
Flipping a coin… and I’m going to start with the Animate Weapon build!
I am keeping the Spellslinger and a Bane Occultist build in my back pocket for emergency use though!!
For chuckles, I checked and of course the servers aren’t online yet but if I was inclined to stay in queue t here were only 58000 people ahead of me. Heh.
Holy smokes, that is one heckuva queue. No idea how it stacks up against other league starts though, since I don’t know that I’ve ever been in the queue when a league has launched.
