I am #259 in the queue. Other than sitting at the character select screen during my meeting, I’m not sure what that’ll buy me really, but it makes me feel good that I’ll be logged in and ready to go when I can.

The queue always looks crazy at the very start of a league, although it’s not always 5 digits!

I got in! Then I died cause I ran through a delirium mirror not realizing what it was. Then I got disconnected. About par for the course with new league starts. :) Will be trying again later tonight, hopefully the connection is better.

My wife jumped on to try getting a new character going, but only got to level 3 before the crashing and disconnects drove her away. I’m just perusing builds still, knowing the game is going to be unstable for a bit.

Servers have been pretty stressed, with a variety of disconnects. I’ve gotten to around level 12 playing Animate Weapon and the weapons are quite strong and having a spell like Ethereal Knives leave a few blades behind so you can animate them is great… but the target zone for animating a weapon is quite small - you have to really have your cursor over the teeny weeny weapon icon to animate it. And you animate one at a time (starts out with a max of 5, I’m up to 6 now). They last a fair bit of time (40+ seconds) so it could be worse but the targeting is the biggest PITA right now. Well, aside from the server crashes.

Same here. I got kicked twice amid some noticable lag and decided I would wait a bit.

I switched from the DC to the Texas gateway and was able to get in with only a short queue.

Apparently there was some sort of DDOS attack as well as record player count. I’d guess things will be pretty normal tomorrow, unless another attack crops up.

Any suggestions on an Archer build? I haven’t touched bows yet and want to give them a shot this season.

Here is a Toxic Rain Trickster: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2467666

And a Caustic Arrow Trickster: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2778181

Thanks! I’m going to try that toxic rain one. Sounds fun!

Levellig with Holy Flame Totem Heiro with a view to moving into Elemental Hit Ballistae. Gonna need a Frostferno though and that might be pricey.

When the US servers were failing last night, I tried London instead and had no issues there.

I watched an interesting commentary this morning from a POE streamer (CuteDog in case anyone cares). He was recapping his first day in delirium league and he said even though GGG said the scaling on the mobs in the fog would be hit points, so you would need to have a good damage to go far in the fog, he found the mobs more like metamorph bosses… Every mob seems pretty rippy and you had to be careful not to die really fast. That has been my experience too. When I’ve tried them I usually only last about 30 seconds until I have to worry about getting overwhelmed.

He also mentioned that when the mob spawns in there is a brief period of time where they appear to be invulnerable so it puts your timeing off in that if you attack them right away it doe nothing and you have to attack them second time.

I thought those were interesting observations.

I have only reached Act II (running a Kinetic Bolt witch build I found) but so far the Delirium things are underwhelming. Probably this is because I have no clue what is going on. It seems stuff randomly spawns, and if you don’t kill something for a few seconds, a timer starts, and then the thing goes away? Eh, whatever. Nasty spike damage in those though.

I resemble this remark! So far, all I’ve done is just keep moving as I normally would through the level and kill whatever pops up. Eventually the timer pops up and some items drop. Presumably as I move through the Acts I’ll start getting killed by those damage spikes people keel talking about.

Well, I’m really low level with craptastic gear and a build I have never tried (being that Kinetic Bolt is a new spell), so dying is part of the deal. And because I’m still reveling the freedom of not playing Hardcore (which was what I played for all of the time in PoE up until last season), I’m sloppy.

If you run over those watermelon like things that will spawn mobs. I find that it’s difficult to move forward at times because it’s hard to kill the things in front of you and things start spawning behind you so my experience has been I get two or three items to drop when I do a delirium thing. I’ve never been able to last longer than that. So I agree it’s not a super impressive mechanic at lower levels.

@TheWombat how is kinetic Bolt? I have not heard anyone talking about it.

@ineffablebob are you doing animate weapon or zombies? I have been running animate weapon and they’re pretty good … have had zero issues so far damage wise… but they feel a bit like like fast skeletons in their behavior. It feels like they are always shuffling around behind me and I constantly have to use convocation to get them up with me. I started with the animate weapon build that is in the path of exile forums but I have just started transitioning to the one that Zizaran put out a video on. It uses a few different spells and also has zombies and a specter linked to meat shield. It is unclear if animate weapon is different enough from other minions to make it interesting to play in its own right though.

I’m trying Animate Weapon. I don’t much like having to summon them every time I zone, but other than that it feels pretty much the same as skeletons. You just have to alternate your Knives/Bladefall spell with Animate, instead of one cast for skeletons. I’ll have to get to higher levels to see the differences, I suppose.

Ive been using animate weapon too, made it to A3 and enjoyed seeing the various new mechanics since the last time I played. (.which was the league with the temples). Animate works fine but I may prefer the feel of sea, and I can see it getting difficult to keep the dex and green sockets needed. But early days still.
