Some certainly did. The frame game worked right until the switch. So there may be a few missing, but most I’ve checked worked?
Oops, you’re absolutely right. That’ll teach me to take a Zylon post at face value.

Well, he didn’t technically say anything false; there were just some assumptions which turned out incorrect.
I guess this was covered, but why couldn’t we do an incremental import to get all the up-to-date content?

Not so easily done - and now that folks have started posting/replying, it would be even more messy. It was known there would be a week of ‘lost’ info - if there is anything of value that needs to be here, cut&paste works :)
Well sure, we’re fucked now, but why couldn’t it be done? I’ve been doing that in IT for 20 years.

It’s more trouble than it is worth. It’d be better to work on faster importers IMHO than worry about creeping incrementalism. This was a giant import for the record, one of the largest we’ve ever done.
Can I use that with my customers? ;)
Only if you warn your customers for weeks in advance about how it’s going to work. :)
This was discussed and explained, and furthermore stickied at the top of every single subforum. Part of the migration process was either shutting down the site completely for a few days or having a couple of days of limbo posts that would have to be manually imported. We opted for the latter. Fortunately, no one said anything of significance in the interim! Phew!

This forum seems much snappier. Is it the host or the forum software, or both?

The actual server is in NYC for optimal Europe ← → West Coast speeds. So if you are on the east coast you’ll have a particularly nice experience.
We also use a CDN to speed up delivery of static assets.
also vBulletin really, really sucks
I updated my profile a little. I added a random image that met the required size for the profile background, but what is the “user card background”?
Testing to see if posting a reply takes me to last post.
Ah good it does. :) So for idiots like me, how do you go to the final post in a thread without scrolling through it? Sorry if this seems obvious I am struggling :)
update: found it. you click on the right hand side of the title of the thread where it says “activity” rather than the posts title.
It seems a bit slower on my end – especially noticeable if I try to page down to the end of a thread and it has to load in.
When you click a username mid-thread (or, really, anywhere in the UI), a miniaturized version of their profile floats up. The card background can be applied to that little window.

I can never seem to mark everything as read so I can start with a clean slate. When I went into “Unread” I could dismiss threads so they weren’t bolded, but it didn’t apply to all threads. Is there a way to mark every thread as “read” so they aren’t bolded?

You may wish to ask @tomchick about that :) TL;DR bold has a slightly different meaning here.
Now I’m more confused than before. Bold means a thread with unread posts, right? It seems to me rob’s issue is that he wants to mark everything read, not that unread threads are bolded. Am I correct, rob, or am I misunderstanding something here?

The way I see it, Unread list only threads you are subscribed to, which have new posts not read by you. It is indicated by a blue ball with number of post since your last read. You can dismiss everything here but it does not Dismiss all other threads you are not tracking. This is the confusing part that @robc04 faced.
Latest will show you unread threads and this is indicated by “bold”. The thread which you have responded (Discourse term for this is tracking) will have that blue bubble. The Dismiss here will Dismiss everything - your tracked topic or topic you didn’t fracked that was unread.

Oh, crap, this forum software is going to take some serious getting used to.
Found a Chrome extension that does a nice job of adding a dark background to the site: Dark Reader.
