PC Gaming on the couch

Never found anything else that works half as well for shooters or strategy games. Those wacky alternative controllers just don’t cut it.[/quote]

I have to think a large part of it is in fact due to a high dpi resolution over a fairly wide area (a typical mousepad). In which case I’m not sure any convergent style product could afford the same accuracy.

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if someone eventually makes a very high resolution make laser pen/tablet dealie that would work better than mouse. Like a super-charged wacom tablet meant for gaming, though that goes against the grain of adding more and more buttons to the pointing device.

Heh, just wondering if there were some other direct-mapping spatial device that didn’t require a flat surface for operation. I dunno, Sony was showing off some optical recognition wand-system a couple years back (eye-toy precursor).

Its so bad. ;)

If Infinium Labs used their heads they’d market a modified version of their key/mouse controller which got a lot of positive press and comments from gamers.

Barring that I always thought Logitechs 3DConnexion technology would be a natural for a FPS specific controller for consoles (or anything else that required one to use their TV’s)

Yeah, I’d buy a wireless version of that Infinium combo controller in a second. I tried it at E3 and it works suprisingly well.

Hmm… Come to think of it, I have a buddy who does woodworking – how hard would it be to duplicate that design? Just add clips to hold the Logitech keyboard. I doubt Infinium will ever sell a version for the PC.

I wonder… Is it a violation of patent law to duplicate a patented product for your own use, if you don’t sell it? (I have to assume Infinium patented that design.)

EDIT: Anyone found any good high-res pics of the Infinium keyboard/mouse on the web anywhere?

Okay, finally found a lift-top table that doesn’t look like total crap. Hover over the “alternate view” to see the “eating/gaming” mode.

What I want is a bluetooth (or any thing with at least a 30foot range) keyboard like the IBM thinkpad’s with the eraserpad. It’s not much good for gaming but you don’t need a mouse for the common stuff and it works much better than a touchpad imo.

Depending on exactly how much space you need, an air desk might do. My wife uses one for her laptop.
