PCMCIA WLAN Cards

Friends of mine have a little connection problem. They have two laptops and PCMCIA WLAN cards (same brand). Whenever they go to the next room, the signal will drop significantly and chances are that the connection to the wireless router drops completely at some point. I tried it with my Centrino notebook and didn’t have any problems at all. I was able to access the internet from any random point in the apartment without problems at all. No connection problems, no signal drop.

So, I guess the problem is related to the WLAN adapters they are using and that it might be a good idea to switch to a different brand. Any specific recommendations for hardware they should look into?

Thanks

The Linksys wireless-G card that I popped into my dad’s laptop seems to work fine all over the apartment. I’m afraid that’s as much thought as I’ve ever given it.
