PDF to Voice?

I have several large PDF files that I would like to have converted to MP3s so I can listen to them on my commute. Does anyone know if this is even possible?

  1. use a free OCR program to turn your PDFs into text files, or use Adobe Acrobat or some other program to do the same.
  2. use a free text to speech program to turn the text files into .wavs
  3. use a free mp3 encoding program to turn the .wav into .mp3s.

google terms:

“free OCR”
“PDF to plain text”
“free text to speech”
“free mp3 encoding”

Doesn’t Acrobat have a built-in option to convert text to speech? Sure, it’s Dr. Sbaitso quality, and you probably have to use an external app to record it, but at least the text-to-speech part isn’t a problem.

cool thanks for the help. I’ll have to see if I can get this to work.
