Percentage of Americans that pay no income taxes?

Someone paying “no payroll tax” is completely disingenuous.

Working people pay 7.65 percent which is matched by their employer even though no-one is honest enough to put it on a paycheck stub.

Note that this is phased out at $102K.

So people who earn more than that amount are actually getting income that is free of a 15.3 percent tax rate that has no deductions, there is no way to defer it and no way to get any credits on it.

Nobody who has earned income pays “no tax” and with your deductions, deferred retirement contributions and tax credits you actually pay much less on a good share of your income than poor people do.
