I thought Josh left Obsidian. I must have napped during a news flash that announced his return.

It’s on sale on GOG!

He isn’t leading any projects (currently?) is all, he still works there in other capacities.

same boat…I only have time for 1 crpg…turnbased mode sold me…now, when was that summer sale on steam??

???

Is the GOG version up to date? I prefer GOG, but unfortunately publishers often treat them like a secondary priority.

No idea on that one. I knew about the GOG sale because the very tweet I read from Obsidian re: version 5.0 also talked about the GOG version being on sale, but they don’t mention which versions are getting patched and which are not. I imagine if there was a delay in the GOG version getting the update that would be detailed somewhere?

If only someone had a GOG version… wait, I do, despite still not budgeting the time…
My GOG library says that it is patched till 5.0.

Awesome, glad to hear it and thanks for the info!

Frankly, that is not much of a deal. Fanatical has the game and all expansions for $45 (deal ends tonight).

Cool beans. I bought it full price when it launched, so I was just trying to help a few folks that couldn’t find it on Steam, but I appreciate the info and I’m sure others will benefit from it. Link?

EDIT:

It’s really only a difference of $5, so I guess “not that much of a deal” is a YMMV type of situation.

It’s not actually much different on GOG - Scott linked the Deluxe Edition.

The base edition is $33 and the season pass is $16.50 on GOG:

The few dollars difference at that point is more than worth it to get a DRM-free copy IMO, but to each their own of course.

Steam has a more strict sale schedule probably. Weekend sale starts in several hours, I bet PoE2 will be there.

I take it “Obsidian” is the complete edition with everything?

This is up there with Divinity: Original Sin 2 for being actually confusing to buy just for the number of editions and add-ons.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 in particular I thought about buying, but really did not want to have to figure out what the Ultimate Edition, Enhanced Edition, Definitive Edition, Sexual Beast Edition, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Edition, and other versions actually were.

That’s particularly weird since D:OS2 doesn’t have any DLC. I mean, enhanced edition is just the (free to existing owners) overhaul, but I have no idea what the rest of that stuff is.

Yeah, it’s unclear from the little drop box when you’re selecting each edition, but on the GoG page for each addition, there’s a nice visual chart for what each version has. And the Obsidian version clearly shows the Season Pass, and the 3 DLC that are part of the season’s pass.

@Rock8man has your back, but I will add the Steam store pages is where I find the easier to follow flow of what various editions provide.

I mean, there are two (outside of the base game alone, of course) editions. Tricky, I know, but once more the Steam page is the best I’ve found for detailing what each edition brings.

@Rock8man @Scotch_Lufkin

Thanks guys, that clears it up. Is there anything in the explorer’s pack that’s actually useful? Seems like it’d be cheaper to just buy the basic version of the base game and the season pass.
