Which is why you shouldn’t have “pause on combat initiation”, but rather “pause and stop party on first sight of mobs”, that way you are completely in control of every encounter except scripted ones. You can actually get quite close to mobs in stealth before the circle goes red, and get the jump on them pretty good - i.e. you don’t blunder into their range of sight unprepared, you have some elbow room to position before engaging.
I did actually. It skips from my experiences at “Raedric’s Hold” to “Go find the underground temple in Defiance Bay”. So there is no record of that backstory at the entrance that the guard spoke about.
Actually, I think I’ll just head back to him and read it all again.
Looking at the capes and helms, it’s hard to believe these are the devs who have had problems with both capes and helms at different times. To be fair, they inherited the cape problem from Bioware.
From the kickstarter update:
It’s come to our attention that a piece of backer-created content has made it into Pillars of Eternity that was not vetted. [goes on about how they contacted the backer and changed it, without ever saying what it was…]
Anyone know what it was? I want the juicy details.
Seems this is it:
Yes I had to look it up too:
transphobia: the discrimination of and negative attitudes toward transgender people based on their gender expression
What problems exactly?
I was often able to sneak my max-stealth rogue up and behind the enemy groups and engage with my main party - at which point she would get behind someone and flank them, or if she targeted I’d vanish her (or use Escape) and retreat behind my front line. I never really felt there would be value in having my rogue stay stealthed during combat - especially withe abilities she had.

I can see a reason to - backstab. A skill that is basically suicide if you use it to backstab someone since you just became the target of everything.
I wish I could leave my rogue, who has stealth, hidden off to the side to step in once the main group has gotten the enemy attention, but the game throws everyone out of stealth so it doesn’t really work. Not a huge deal, but the stealth system seems so well implemented and then you can’t really use it much because everyone breaks at the same time.
You linked the wrong one, it was a limerick about a guy being offended when his date turns out to be trans. Relatively harmless, but there was enough uproar that it was worth their time to be sensitive.

They readded it with the dude’s new poem making fun of it from what I’ve gathered.

Now hordes of people saying they will be boycotting Obsidian because they decided to change a joke gravestone. Already numerous youtube manifestos on this important topic.
Thanks!
Re 1) I do have meta game stuff enabled, and I interpret (benevolent) as meaning that the response increases reputation for benevolence. What does the indicator look like when benevolence is a requirement? I dont recall seeing that but maybe I haven’t been paying enough attention.
Re 2) I didn’t know these had their own slot, I’ll start applying the upgrade, thanks!
When your reputation is high enough to trigger a special NPC reaction their dialogue is prefaced with [Aggressive 2] for example.
Yeah, I had one woman just hand me her wedding ring, trusting me to return it, due to my benevolent reputation.
Good to know! So either I haven’t triggered any of those yet or I haven’t been paying enough attention.
Hmm, another PoE update after the last patch. 579.1 MB on Steam. Would this be the hotfix (pretty big)?

The limerick was about a guy who thought he was taking a woman to bed but it turned out to be a man and he killed himself by jumping off a cliff. Its not remotely ‘transphobic’ and there was almost no uproar at all, just a handful of twitter losers and steam forum posters.
Where does this shit end? How is that joke more offensive than the content of the game itself? I’m not going to boycott anything but this is disappointing to me that an extremely fringe minority group can get content changed because they are offended. Fuck yourself if you are offended and do not buy the fucking game or stop playing it.
Depends:
I’ve done it twice; the first time I just returned it and I believe I could have then gotten the book for the animancer except I ruined it with another conversation choice. The 2nd time I followed the booming voice, and still got the same result because I passed an honesty check when I returned and told Grimda a voice had told me to do it. I suspect if you haven’t picked enough honest conversation options that won’t be available.
Which is one of the things I like about this game, how those conversation choices actually matter and you might get different pieces of quest info or results based on your previous choices.
Some of the durations on those seem out of wack. My druid’s stag form ability to do cleave damage lasts longer than the stag form. I’m not complaining though =p
I don’t see why you care? I wasn’t offended but other people were, and it didn’t affect me either way.
