Burned through one card. Bought another. I just hope this damn huge .pig I’m now downloading isn’t more than 250mb or I’ll have to go and plug this thing into the dialup speed at work (that keeps cutting out as the power comes and goes and the client won’t auto-re-download).
Gah :/
Which .pig? wrt_fa.pig is 333Mb.
I’m nearly done now. At 1:20 left - I got the last .pig without tripping the mb meter I think. Think it crashed - which is good. I’ve been at 1.20 left for about 2.5 hours though. I get into this damn file then my net connection falls over. Crappy wifi. Sometimes it’s good here… sometimes not. Fingers crossed it holds for the rest of this file or I’m off to bed :(
I’m in as “Bishop Calistas” - Father Calistas is forbidden. Doh!
What about Padre, or Pere?
or Monsignor… Caliph or Caliphate… Pope…

Man, I’m glad I managed to get this running. The naval combat is brilliant. I’ve just learned how to salvage/scavenge enemy ships, and have been having a load of fun with my red flag / gunnery / defense boarding specialist pirate. Just upgraded to a Bermuda class Sloop, hoping to find a juicy target sailing in a mediator cutter soon, so I can board and take her. Great game. Looking forward to joining Stand and Deliver.
Heh, we created a society on Antigua called New Holland Buccaneers, and now everyone thinks we are Dutch! (New Holland is Australia, so-called because it was discovered by the Dutch back in 1601 or thereabouts)
Starting a society is hard work - first everyone thinks you’re Dutch, then they see you’ve only got a handful of members and leave. Not sure where the critical mass is.
Although I have a lvl 14 English National on Bonny, I’m having more fun - so far - as a Pirate on Antigua. Perhaps the end-game is less satisfying, but the whole concept of sailing around and taking over ships just appeals to me. Plus Tortuga is a great port!

I’ve been really tempted to try a Pirate, but didn’t realize that you could only belong to one faction per server until I’d sunk a bunch of time into my Privateer. I might join you guys on Antigua.
I don’t speak Dutch, is that going to be a problem?
Our motto will have to be “Join us, or face our cheeses!”
No, no, that’s not right.

Ok, I’m on Antigua as the soon to be somewhat feared pirate, Cedric Fitzroy.
Can someone on Bonny send Edward Greymane a society invite, the next time they see him on? It’d be much appreciated. As for Antigua, which nation is our society there? Right now, I’m trying to decide if I should drop the 10k gold on a respec, because it feels like my red flag focus has gimped me somewhat in naval combat. I’m good enough in avatar combat that I don’t really end up needing the bonuses to crew attacks, but the grapple-resist attack seems decent… argh.

Holy crap, don’t do that. The nationals all have relatively easy ways to get respecs. Isn’t there a comparable route for pirates?
You get a free respec at one of the 5 level increments I believe? You can also turn in 10 pennets for a respec.
I’d only spend the 10k if your economy is rolling enough that it’s less than a days income, and only then after exhausting the other routes.
Any, I agree the skill that gives your boarding parties +1 levels is worthless. Decimate is borderline too in PvP, although kicks ass on missions.
Just done Red Tide for the first time in a group mission - now I’m looking forward to large pvp port battles!
Gah, I’m glad you guys told me that. I’m doing the 14 day trial, so I have no manual. I saw the respecs for sale in the shop, assumed that was the only way to get one. I think I’ve got just about 10 pennets by now.
You can turn in the pennets at the Quartermaster in Tortuga, over on the east end. I’ve never seen the manual either, so don’t know if that’s in there. I just stumbled across it wandering around.
Hi folks, need a hand.
Ok, so I’m level 8 and I have my nice Bermuda sloop. I’m tooling around the pirate lands and I can pick off single lvl 5s or-so fairly easily, but by now all my missions are orange or red and really tough. So I’ve stopped doing those (which is a shame).
But any more than a solo dood and I find it tough. I haven’t tried boarding one when another is around, but I don’t believe it’s safe.
Also, boarding is pretty much the only way to end a fight in under 30 minutes? That gets a little tiring. I kinda like blasting the crap outta stuff.

You shouldn’t run out of missions to do. I had a full mission log all the way up to my current level…
And as for ending fights, enough damage will see the enemies abandon ship.
