It appears that Walmart had one PS5 for sale for Black Friday. Maybe I’ll just wait for the Pro to come out…
Tried again, gone in under 30seconds.

Finally have my first major complaint: Spotify integration appears to be a step backwards. On PS4 you had the side menu bar that popped when holding the PS button and you could queue up a playlist while in-game. Not seeing similar functionality on PS5 - meaning you have to pop into the Spotify app when a playlist ends. Which disconnects you from online servers and is a pain on, say, Final Fantasy XIV (and presumably other MMOs).
Someone tell me I’m dumb and doing it wrong :)
You can’t just control it from the bottom bar after a single press of the PS button?

You can control a playlist that’s already active, but you can’t queue up a new one from what I’ve seen. Which is kind of surprising, you’d think queueing up music without being booted from an online game would be a common use case? Maybe it’s not an issue with every game.

I don’t know. I think consoles have been doing that pretty well for a while now. I just played Journey on my PS3 (well, it was my second time) and I was just totally blown away by it and never once did I feel like it was obvious that I was playing on a 14 year old console. When you consider something like the PS1, playing a PS1 in…2009 would be a pretty painful experience.
Well that is a very stylized game that doesn’t really rely on horsepower for the presentation, and it released the year prior to the launch of the PS4.
I do love the game, but it’s not a great example imo.
What I really want to know now is why apps like Twitch and Movies Anywhere taking up over a GB of space. Netflix is like 500MB. Are they actually just hogging space for 4k UI shit because that seems pretty ridiculous compared to both pc and mobile apps. And no, I have not downloaded any content for any of them, just the apps themselves.
I think some of the media apps will provision themselves some disk space for buffering streams.
That would be a slightly less annoying issue then, but I would have assumed that there would be a section of the system already set aside for such things rather than having each app do it piecemeal.

I was not aware of this being on by default…
I turned off all the trophy crap after I imported my save for Spiderman and suddenly had like 50 videos at 15 seconds each of the main menu.
Yeah. I mean, it kinda hurts to see people taking pictures of their stacks of consoles for eBay.

I’m not even too mad about reselling your own console, if you want to, since no one is making anyone buy it and the demand is there. But these guys are spending close to 2 million to snag boxes from out of the “mouths of babes” so to speak.
It’s one thing if you hit refresh for an hour and sell your box in the end, it’s another when you have a bot scalping system and million dollar bank rolls to do it. I mean right now anyone who has a next gen console and has used it could still probably resell their used console over MSRP with almost 100% certainty.
Yes. Your controller microphone is on unless you mute it too. Those videos do take up significant space but they’re also kinda fun.

I was only half interested in the console, but now that I have it, I am actually pretty pleased with it. It’s a little awkward on the shelf, but having two functional consoles in the home is just kind of cool, and it’s the first time in forever where I have some options with some games where I am not feeling like I am sacrificing much if anything if I go for the console version to enjoy my gaming on a recliner experiences.
I’ve owned every Sony system but rarely have they been my number one place to play games. The PS5 is so good that it’s where I want to play almost everything now. The Switch still has it’s place of course, but this is Sony at their best.
Also, I had two orders. I sent one to a fellow Qt3er at cost so it could be a Christmas gift. I would never resell like that. Years later when games are scarce and prices go up? Sure. :)

My 11 year old nephew wants to save up for a PS5. He’s neve really shown any interest at all in saving for anything. This is the first time. My sister can’t really tell me why he wants one, like if there is a specific reason since that household has more all the other ones, but… his two aunts have been discussing how much money we give him this year for this effort, and what kind of present we should get to go along with it. The three of us do not think he is old enough to be content with envelopes full of cash this year and no presents. This auntie though, has a ton of things he could do around the house to earn cash if he wants to do that. He could have it maybe even by the summer if he tried. It’d be really something though for that kid to earn a next gen console pretty much the first year it came out. It would also make future gift giving events so, so much easier than they are now.
