Yeah. I think there were at least three of us here that it worked for. It should have continued that way for longer.

It’s dumb but they appear to put up the queue before they put up the actual stock. So people are queuing for stock which literally doesn’t exist yet.
A couple weeks ago I saw people queue for 90 minutes for stock which sold out in minutes.

The problem with not being able to consistently get the ps5 version and hide PS4 versions of games is ridiculously embarrassing.
I got my PS5 on Tuesday, but I still haven’t unboxed it. I’m going to give it to my kid for Christmas.
I haven’t owned a Playstation since the PS1 in the 90s. Anyone have a good primer on how family sharing works on Playstation? I’m erring on the side of going all physical like I do on the Switch, because the sharing system is rubbish for Nintendo. I already have Spider-Man on disc, but it came with the bundle.
I don’t know if it’s changed from PS4, but on PS4 what you would do is make one system the primary for the PSN account, that system could play games logged in as any user, the other system would only be able to play the game logged in as the PSN account that purchased the game digitally. This would really only work with two systems.
Same as Xbox then? Cool, that will work. Thanks! I only have 1 system for now, but will probably get another at some point so I can use it too.

Man, every launch they have these supply problems. I’ve heard people toss around the term “hunger marketing” where companies create a scarity of supply on purpose to make it more exclusive but that shoots them in the foot. I’m ready to switch over to Sony this gen but can’t find one. So I had to buy Valhalla on the XBone, there goes that revenue to Sony…
I don’t think that’s what’s going on here, this was their biggest hardware launch ever, and they launched during a pandemic, they are making these things as fast as they can.
Nintendo does this ALL THE TIME. They create artificial scarcity to maintain their Brand image. Why would they make a digital Mario game only available for a couple months? Why only make a very small run of NES Classics and discontinue it? Why make Amiibos so goddamn rare? Because it keeps people hunting for Nintendo products.
I don’t think Sony is doing this. I think they just can’t make them fast enough.

This shortage is definitely not on purpose for either Sony or Microsoft. They know they could sell as many as they can make right now and that the situation will change as a COVID vaccine rolls out. I’m certain they’d make more if they could.
The problem of scalpers is one they can’t really solve, and it’s shameful how retailers have ignored the issue.

PS5 never asked me which was the primary. I am assuming it changed, but I don’t actually know. It asked me for my log in and that was it.
I am unable to move MHW and Horizon dawn to the extended storage I bought. I shows up as able to delete but not able to move. Based on the labels, they’re PS4 versions, so I am not sure why. I think there is another smaller game that has the same issue.
I wouldn’t say ignored. A few of them cut off Brickseek recently. I am sure that is not adequate, but they are acknowledging the problem.
If you can redownload (a pain I know) then you should be able to put MHW and Horizon on extended storage that way. Make sure you have the slider turned on that puts all PS4 games on Extended storage too.
@Wallapuctus I have had two of my kids play on PS5 already and as long as the primary account has PlayStation Plus, then everyone on that console can play all the games the primary account owns and play online too. It’s the same as PS4 this way (and PS3 too IIRC). That said, physical discs do make it much easier if you have multiple console homes and want to share single player games around. You can’t obviously do it as easily with multiplayer. At that point, you’ll need a Plus account for the other players so they can be online on another system.
As for supply @Guap, they’ve been putting systems up on the Sony store damn near daily right now. They always sell out quickly. It’s easily the hottest item this Christmas season. The numbers for this console are going to be enormous. We’ll see soon how many they sold.
I mean, these are easy to buy compared to the NVIDIA video cards in the 30 series. Those are like a needle in a haystack by comparison.

Yep as soon as I got the storage I changed that setting. I just didn’t have storage I wanted to use when I got it at first. I supposed I can delete it and redownload since I don’t have caps… yet. Any idea why Move works for all but 2-3 games? Oh and a couple of apps too. I think Disney+ consented to move but not like 2 others. It seems randomish from my POV (even though I don’t really believe in random)
I have no idea. Maybe something with the way those games or apps store their save data? It would be interesting if that didn’t work on a PS4 or PS4 Pro either for example, but I won’t be downloading to test it out. :)
As an aside, I’ve been plenty happy with all the PS4 stuff on the external drive. It’s faster than PS4/Pro when it comes to load times and I am sure if I bought an external SSD it’d be even better. As it stands, the 2TB I have there is perfect for now.
I also had my first system crash/lockup and it happened while using the YouTube app of all things. Had to do a shutdown and it did storage repair on restart. Seems fine now, but we’re definitely still in early days with these new consoles and odd little bugs that can bring down the system. I’m pretty happy with their system updates so far. They have fixed lots of actual issues. Rainbow Six Siege is working fine now after initial problems.
Beware the Youtube app. It took me over a year, but I think I’ve isolated my Xbox One (launch OG edition from 2013) problems to the Youtube app as well. Now that my son and wife use Youtube exclusively on the AppleTV, not on the Xbox, I haven’t had any crashing issues on my Xbox One anymore.
PS3 didn’t do the primary console thing. Instead, they let you activate a set number of consoles per account and give each activated console full access to your digital library for that platform, which was part of why gamesharing was a huge problem on it, along with the absurdly high activation limit for a large part of the system’s life. That was a huge motivator for Sony to change to the system they used on the PS4 and now the PS5.

Yeah I do save data on those. There are a few games I had on PS4 that I never got around to starting yet like Witcher 3, and those moved fine. Maybe it is that. I kept RDR2 on there because I got really far, but the load screens meant I just can’t squeeze in much gaming in an hour or so on weekends, and it’s not a game I play while doing other things either.
You like the load times on external? RDR2 will let me move it off to my new 5TB drive, but I didn’t move it because I want fast. I thought I might move that one after I finish it. Maybe one day I will go back to online… chances are slim.
I haven’t watched YouTube on mine yet. I just have the free version so not real watching there on any device.
