Microsoft may be getting poor yields also and just using the binned chips for the XSS. That would be smart.

Hmm… this would indeed be smart.

Yes and it would explain why they took so long to announce it also.
My guess is that’s wrong, though. They always intended to release a cheaper SKU and we’ll find its SoC is much smaller.

Someone from MS reading this just pushed their chair back from their monitor. #antoniobanderasgif
One of the theories surrounding the XSX chip is that MS had AMD take out the components out of each core that assist with boosting. The idea is that it helped MS squeeze more cores on each chip. It was a bit surprising when MS announced the XSX clock speeds because they seemed conservative, but it makes more sense with the revelation of the XSS.
It’s possible that Sony could announce a clock boost that helps close the CPU gap.

Play has no limits but we’ve designed the lines of our console to look like the graph of one.

The Bloomberg articles are getting a bit silly at this point. We’ve had one roughly every 3-4 months now telling us that production is increasing or decreasing. Its hard to find them credible.
They are not. The SoC die sizes are listed on Xbox.com. The Series X chip is 360mm2. The Series S is 197mm2.

There you go, I did say I didn’t think that was actually what was happening.

I don’t even ask for a price. If they say nothing, I know it will be 599$€
Sony says the Bloomberg story is false

So what are you expecting in today’s conference besides price details @Brad_Grenz? Do you think they’ll make a new game announcement as well?
Maybe the long rumored Silent Hill game, next Final Fantasy seems to be heavily rumored as well.
Spider-Man Miles gameplay.

Woah! I would love to see a new turn-based Final Fantasy in the mold of FFX/Lost Odyssey.

Is that today as well? Man it’s all happening in the videogame world.
Suspenseful few minutes here wondering which way the €499 price will be rounded for the US…
