I just finished watching the showcase again with sound. The game that benefitted the most from the sounds was Cold War. Wow, the sound effects completely change the impact of that footage. I guess that’s true of most shooters, starting with Wolf3d.

Deathloop also was a lot more impressive with sound.

So that Final Fantasy XVI footage:. It looks like they are either going with FF 15 combat again, in which case I’m likely not interested, or maybe this time they are going all the way and making it an action RPG similar to the Kingdom Hearts series. Hmmm, I think that could be a great fit for the series actually.

They brought over a combat designer from Dragon’s Dogma/Devil May Cry 5. It definitely looks like they’re going more character action.

Oh, and I just got one of those exclusive invitations to preorder from Sony! Those still must be going out in waves. I’ve got preorders in for the disc version at Target and Amazon right now, but if I can get the discless from Sony, I can maybe hang on to those others for anyone else who doesn’t manage to get their own.

Sony reposted the Demon’s Souls trailer just now with the PC reference removed. Watched it in 4K on my TV and it looks so damn good!

Got the CAG tweet, got the Amazon preorder promised to arrive on launch day. Such a smooth experience compared to the other sites - you’d think Amazon knows how to do ecommerce or something.

Totally agree with that Verge article though. This was a shitshow, but what can Sony do? I guess they might be able to fine the stores if they had a contract in place for preorders. Any attempt to punish by withholding stock is just going to piss their fans off which helps no one.

e: Bunch of bundles just went up at Best Buy. The Spiderman and extra controller bundles seem reasonable since you probably want one of those anyway.

I get one step after checkout where they want you to enter payment next. This happened earlier with the first batch, eventually it just kicked me out and I lost the item from the cart. Expecting the same to happen again.

Well it’s letting me enter payment information on Best Buy now and then goes ‘Processing Your Order’ before dumping back to the same form and wanting me to place the order again with the CC information already filled out.

Pretty sure I am going to end up with either 0 or 35 PS5s.
