I will say that i’m one of those guys that prefer PS controllers to Xbox controllers. I really like the giant pad as a big “press this button blind”, and i prefer symmetric to asymmetric design.

I also like the integrated speaker, though it wasn’t used very much except in a handful of games.

You needed to pre-register, and Sony isn’t taking pre-orders until tomorrow on their site, and then you’ll need a personalized URL that they send you.

Let me clarify, I don’t mean releasing new games. I mean you can use the machine, the games you have and the streaming services still work. In comparison, Wii was taken off Nintendo’s network entirely… can’t even get online.

Nintendo has really forgiving fans, so they can get away with that. I don’t think Microsoft or Sony could get away with that.

Just got a pre-order in for the PS5 digital edition at Target.com. Standard would go in my shopping cart but then error out when I tried to complete the order.

Edit: tried again for the full version and it went through. Now I have both the regular and diet PS5s pre-ordered!

I’d feel more comfortable if Target had my order. I question whether BB is actually going to get the inventory.

Thanks Menzo, I just pre-ordered at Target as well.

Whoa, success here too, thanks!

Same here. Full version.

Jeez I step away from my comp for 5 minutes and pre-order reopen and sell out again at Target…

That’ll teach you.

Me too … sold out Target…AUGH

Welp, there went the last remaining interest I had in buying a PS5. Good luck with your preorders, everybody!

Yeah, I was just half heartedly clicking everything on a list of sites to preorder from: Sams, Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, Target, etc. Everything was sold out, then Target had “Add to Cart.” Didn’t believe it, put it in the cart, still expected it to tell me no luck, but checked out and got a confirmation email.

I’d suggest just keeping the list and clicking on them occasionally. Walmart has a Notify me when available option.

TBH - the ease and continued availability of Target pre-orders makes me nervous. I fear they just said YOLO and put no limit on the orders they’re taking and will tell people later that their unit won’t be available at launch.

Ask forgiveness, not permission :P

Walmart put a notice that they would have more pre orders up at 6pst. I refreshed the page at 6. I got so far as getting in my cart and checking out, they even put the temporary charge on my card… but it didn’t complete. No joy in Mudville!

Words can not describe my hatred for situations like this. There’s a whole industry of professional scalpers who are well prepared with scripts and other tech to give them a leg up. And retailers don’t care who’s buying the units, or they’d put protections like captchas on checkout.

I think Apple does a great job with this now. They have plenty of stock and everything goes up for sale at the same time globally.

Their silence on the matter was deafening so I’m not surprised, just disappointed. How great of an offering would Sony have if they were able to throw all their first party PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, and Vita games, plus a select back catalog of third party titles (Hey SE, since we’re paying you for FF16 exclusivity, it’d be great to offer some older titles to drum up interest…) on their own Gamepass-like service? And by the way, if you don’t want to subscribe you can still play all your old PS Store purchases on the PS5.

Only way I can see BC being added later is if there’s a complete role reversal this gen and Microsoft is absolutely crushing them. Which is a shame. The PS5 isn’t some exotic piece of hardware and an x86 emulator for at least PS1, PS2, and PSP should be close to trivial.
