I’m glad you got it fixed, that makes me wonder what it was that hosed the IP settings though. Do you mind if I ask which VPN clients you used/were using?
AT&T Global Network Client VPN 7.7 64-bit. I may have had version 7.2 installed before, but I can’t recall. Looking at my downloads directory, I started downloading duplicates 2 days after I downloaded the VPN.
Alternatively it was the VMWare server / player software I’d installed long ago (it kept creating a separate ‘public’ network for the VM machines, but it would never save the settings and stay as ‘private’)

I’ve seen issues with an earlier AT&T VPN client (rebranded to a specific company offering), so that would make sense. I’ve not seen any network issues related to VMWare server or workstation beyond the VM won’t bridge, but who knows, it could have been related.
Thanks for the info sir. I like to keep a reference for things like that, anything “network related” has the tendency to eventually wind up in my inbox, including client issues.

The AT&T VPN client is horrible.
It’s best feature is that 50% of the time upgrading from one version to the other actually removes all versions from your system, with 25% of the time resulting in both versions installed (and not working).
