Politics test

80 and 80, as expected. I also "
You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness."

Has anyone not gotten that? Are all economic systems “fair” by one definition or another?

“You are a Social Liberal (63% permissive) and an Economic Conservative (88% permissive). You are best described as a Capitalist.”

No big surprises there… I think the Social Liberal score should be a bit higher since I answered some questions with my personal attitude rather than desire for state regulation.

“You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.”

Like Ben said, did anyone taking the test not get the line about the “well-developed sense of Right and Wrong?”

Social Liberal (78%)
Economic Liberal (35%)
Democrat

I think I’m a lot more fiscally conservative than that, but it’s hard to get a read with such a small number of questions.

Yeah, I got the fairness & right/wrong responses, too.

I’m a tear on Kerry’s cheek! Who woulda thunk? :?

You are a

Social Moderate
(56% permissive)

and an…

Economic Liberal

(38% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Centrist

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

You are a

Social Liberal
(88% permissive)

and an…

Economic Liberal
(26% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Strong Democrat

How can I be a strong Democrat if I’m skirting the edge of the socialist? Methinks their idea of the political spectrum is a bit wrong-headed.

We need fewer lables not more. Usually they just become a locus for petty tribal behaviour.

[quote=“Euri”]Some of these questions are really, really stupid.

Eventually, a computer will write the best novel ever written.

Nope, because computers won’t be around long enough to do it and noone will be willing to read through all the configurations to determine which is the “best novel”.

A needle in an immense haystack isn’t worth the search.

A piece of literature exists independently of whether anybody has ever read it. Computers are going to be around for as long as humans are at this point. If you really want to get pedantic about it, the entire universe is nothing more than a very complicated computer, so it certainly will exist for long enough.

A needle in an immense haystack isn’t worth the search.

That you may never find it does not mean that it doesn’t exist.

I’m between Bono and Ghandi. Also, this test is assanine.

How can I be a strong Democrat if I’m skirting the edge of the socialist? Methinks their idea of the political spectrum is a bit wrong-headed.

The fact that they consider “Democrat” an ideology at all is more wrong-headed than that. Also, I’m not going to jump on the computer novel bandwagon here, so let me just point out these gems:

If I’m dating someone I like to know where they are and what they’re up to at all times.

Because the way I behave in a relationship has just so much to do with how I want the government to treat me.

The ‘Word of God’ exists only as human beings interpret it.

You totally can’t be religious without being politically conservative. Totally.

It should be legal for two consenting adults to challenge each other to a duel and fight a Death Match.

Uh…

And finally:

It bugs me when somebody names their child something like ‘Sunshine’ or ‘Charm’.

wtf the fuck?

81% Social Liberal, 11% Economic Liberal, which makes me…

Ghandi’s Right Ear.

Ummm…you’re attempting to take seriously a test that’s listed on a site named “okcupid.com”? That’s like attempting to analyze quizzes in Cosmopolitan magazine. Lighten up already.

The guys who made okcupid.com are the same people who made thespark.com (which, sadly, is gone now :() a few years ago. Silly questions have long been a staple in all of their tests, which is one reason why so many people enjoy taking them.

But it’s been posted in P&R! P&R! Of course I have to take it seriously!

Aw shit. And I thought I had passed some kind of QT3 P&R test by not being labeled a “foaming at the mouth” neocon. :(

Just goes to show you can’t trust the internet.

The Word of God question makes no sense to me. I honestly do not get what they are saying. It’s too bad the test didn’t have a “What the hell? JUST STATE WHAT YOU MEAN!” answer for some of these.

I thought the whole point was to see whether you’re on Gorbachev’s birthmark, Kerry’s chin, or Vader’s helmet?

Clearly no 2D plane is ever going to express politics well. Take George Bush, depicted as a pretty straight up “Conservative Economist”. What’s that mean? Laissez Faire + Small Government w/ a tight budget, or massive spending on credit? Two entirely different and mutually exclusive approaches, yet pigeonholed into the same spot. Or what about Hillary Clinton setting right next to Ghandi as a Socialist, while the sort of pro-business neo-liberal economics that Clinton seems to pursue were exactly the sort of thing Ghandi fought against.

The one at www.self-gov.org does a decent job, despite only being ten questions. Regardless, the problem with this quiz is definitely not the limitations of political quiz charting in general.

63/18… Socialist. I’ve taken other tests like this and gotten populist socialist, liberal, etc. etc.

Anyway, I think the “Word of God” question gets at your religious absolutism and such. Protestant sects can be fairly strict about this in particular, so there’s your conservatism connection. I agree that it is too blanketing, but what can you do?

Guns, jobs, and abortions for everyone!

Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!

No, MANDATORY ABORTIONS. We’ve been over this before, we use the unimplanted zygotes created in fertility clinics to give men abortions too.

Hey, that was easy! Just click “Agree” on every question.
