Inspired by the immediate transition of jpinard’s top 15 science-fiction movies thread in the Entertaining Diversions forum, I present the preceding Poll:
I think you missed a couple of important ones:
- Ridiculing others’ lists for including overrated or guilty pleasure entries
- Posting your own list, without any discussion or interest in anyone else’s choices
I certainly think of myself as a geek/nerd/what have you, but I am missing the crucial gene for making ranked lists that most others have. I just don’t think that way. Not so much that I don’t like to think about my favorite song or video game or sci-fi movie, but that I just don’t take them very seriously. If I were to make a top 10 list of things, how do I quantify that number 3 is better than 4 but not as good as 2? I don’t know, I can’t make a tidy stack like that. My opinions shift over time anyway, today I may listen the hell out of Pet Sounds but tomorrow just not be into it. It’s the same problem I have with numbers stuck on reviews, when you boil it down. What makes a thing worth a 7 out of 10 on some scale? So, I guess what I’m saying is, st b***s?
Shit bonerz is censored?
It’s a list thread!
I only have 1 entry for this one:
I like throwing my choices out there to be validated/ridiculed. I am not articulate enough to comment on others.
- Making fun of the people who believe anyone is actually going to read pages upon pages of largely repetitive lists.
