Possible criminal misconduct by Cheney's staff re: Plame

Federal law-enforcement officials said that they have developed hard evidence of possible criminal misconduct by two employees of Vice President Dick Cheney’s office related to the unlawful exposure of a CIA officer’s identity last year. The investigation, which is continuing, could lead to indictments, a Justice Department official said.

According to these sources, John Hannah and Cheney’s chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, were the two Cheney employees. “We believe that Hannah was the major player in this,” one federal law-enforcement officer said. Calls to the vice president’s office were not returned, nor did Hannah and Libby return calls.

Despite the wishing of some people, it doesn’t look like Karl Rove is going to get frogmarched out of the Whitehouse. Lots of fire going Cheney’s way recently, and it looks to me like its starting to actually get some hits in.

Again, its just strange that things start rolling on several of these issues that have been around for a while right around the time that the election is really starting to get going. Is it the media that’s realizing that there’s blood in the water? Is is just the natural progression of investigations? A combination of the 2 and some other thing I haven’t realized?
