How many of your local vets know how to work with them? I hear that’s often an issue for the more exotic pets around here like the sugar gliders. They just don’t know what to do if they are hurt or sick.

There is a local vet that I use that treats them but I’ve not checked with any other local clinics.
One of my previous chinchilla’s lost her two upper incisors, but not the bottom ones. She could no longer wear down her teeth, so I had to take her to the vets once a month to have her bottom incisors trimmed back. I did this for about a year (all the vet techs loved me bringing her in) then the vet found that she had a tumor that was growing up and around her throat and preventing her from eating.
I had her put to sleep because of that. That was not a good day.
But for the most part, chinchilla’s don’t get sick. But when they do, they go down hill very fast, like a just a couple days. They still consider themselves prey animals so they instinctively hide any illness/disability so you usually don’t notice anything until it is to late.
I’m not convinced that front dog actually likes the capybara, and the one in the back appears to be having a seizure.

Aaaw, sorry to hear that.
I only wondered because the sugar gliders and i forget what the other one is, the local vets seem unable to do much. A friend of mine is really into rats and mice, and the vet she uses has to MacGyver things to treat them, like they build some sort of plastic oxygen room to help one of them breathe and recover from an illness of some kind.

I know nothing about chinchillas, so your links sent me on a 30 minute work break reading and seeing pics. :)
What’s amazing is that as a rodent they live so long. 12-20 years?!?

The longest I’ve had one live is about 12 years.
Pudge, the one in the picture, is 9 years. As long as she doesn’t get sick, she will last awhile longer.

I know how that cat feels.

When cropped she can be less lazy looking.

I thought I would drop a new pic of my pup Daltrey. The second pic is at 7 months old. The little bugger is already over 60lbs!
How did I get from this:
To this:
so darned fast?!

The one thing the entire medical and scientific world should focus on is keeping our pets young for their entire lifespan.
That would improve our lives for sure.
Yeah, that goes from “I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER” to “Fuck all humans” pretty quickly.

No joke. @Lamalo your cat looks like it’s getting MORE evil over time. It’s the eyes. Sauron would be jealous.

I have an overwhelming desire to reach into this picture and pull his claw out of the sheet so it doesn’t get broken.
Pets are like that. One of our dogs has dew claws (the ones up the leg just a bit) that grow into almost a complete circle. We have it trimmed for him frequently, they are just freaky like that. And if it gets too long he will catch it on seemingly everything: a blanket, his leash, random garments that fall to the floor, etc.
Is that second pic the cat from Pet Sematary? It looks like an orc-cat.

My cat is not evil, he just wants to rest! He has an exhausting life and needs to relax in every hour he is awake.

The volume knob on your speaker looks like a bluetooth earpiece for a phone so I’m imagining your cat saying something like, “girl, look, it’s just that I’ve got a lot going on right meow. I’m so busy I’ll have to pen you in next week.” Then he blocks any new calls from Princess the Siamese.
