He looks very much like a large German hound/pointer of some type.
Wrong color but similar shape:
Dang! How have I missed this thread?
This is our goofball.

Yes, I’ve thought Weimaraner a few times! Blend that with an American Lab and I think it’s pretty close:

My parents last few labs have all topped 100lbs. 50-70 may be considered ‘normal’, but all the ones I’ve lived with and known tend towards the 100-120 mark.
My dog eats Dinner 1, Dinner 2 and Dinner 3, but totally ignores food the rest of the day.

This is not a dog. But it is the result of 5 minutes of brushing my Golden Retriever who is in his infamous mid summer shed. I get this much twice daily and am convince that he is some how totally bending the laws of physics by shedding so much
This is the doggo
What a beautiful dog. Every time I see a Golden Retriever I remember one of our trips fly fishing in the Rockies. Every day a horse riding group would take off for about a 8 hour ride up the trails. The Golden Retriever would lead the way. I have never seen a dog so ripped. This thing was so muscular a guy had to do a double take.
When I was a kid we used to shave our dog in the summer sort of like this.

Sorry to be a downer but shaving a dog’s undercoat is messing with their temperature. A dog will be fine in heat and cold with a full coat. They self correct. When you shave them like that they can’t. Bad move. Again, sorry.
Yeah, I was going to mention that. and golden’s are double-coated so shaving them removes their outer coat protection while retaining the heat-trapping inner coat. Best thing is help them shed by brushing. Our Swiss shepherds are similarly double-coated and regularly produce clones of themselves around the house twice a year. We have adapted. :)
We shaved him mostly because his hair grew really long and matted. He may have been a Puli or a mix, and they require tons of grooming. Show dogs look like this:
Why have you posted a picture of a mop with the handle missing?

If your dog has long and matted fur you’re doing it wrong. And shaving it off is a bad thing.
He didn’t. Because we shaved him.

I give up. You aren’t too bright are you?
He was kind of a bastard, and would bite everyone except my mom.
He might have been grumpy because of being too hot or too cold.

I think your wife might be my unknown sister because I fall under the same issue with cursing. Tell her this gave a random person a chuckle.
