Nope on the shaving. Ive had Goldens as buddies for pretty much the last 40 years. Daltrey, the pup above, is my 4th. I know I am biased but Goldens are simply the best pet companions a guy can have. They have such a great temperment and personality and are so easily trained because they are driven to please. I learned a long time ago the issues with shaving them. I will occasionally get them a summer cut, which maintains the coat but reduces the shedding but since Daltrey just turned one on July 4th, I decided to just shred brush him this year. And heres another Daltrey pic just because.

Who’s a good puppy? WHO’S A GOOD PUPPY? YOU ARE.

Such a cute doggo! I love goldens but, man, I can barely keep up with my lab’s shedding!! My backyard looked like I murdered a few stuffed animals with all the fur floating around from yesterday’s brushing. I probably have it easy compared to a golden! :)

Strangely enough you can get that from birds too. When they molt, the area around the cage looks like a bird exploded.

It’s a little known fact, but that’s how birds grow. Once they are ready to shed, they go pop and burst out of their old feather coat. It happens very fast and only makes a soft piff noise so most people miss it.

Ah! That’s what that sound was. I thought the dog farted, but I didn’t smell anything.

I was trying to get a similar photo of Bolt so they could have a stare-off, but whenever I look at Bolt he just bursts out into a huge smile. So let’s go with that.

Whenever I look at Bolt I have the same problem! ;)

That is a fine good boi you have there.

Thanks, he is definitely a lifetime member of the Good Boi Club.

The photo was taking at the local reserve, the horse club there have made a great set of obstacles and jumps just for Bolt! At least, that’s what we assume. He has a fat time racing over them all.

I think it’s video time. Pay the dog price. :)

We usually head there on the weekend, next time I’ll see what I can do.

The ears definitely look Weimaraner.

My boy’s puppy pic is my avatar.

Now thats a happy doggo

Simon and Athena have apparently accepted Gus. Day 7.

We have a golden doodle, half golden retriever and half poodle. She doesn’t shed but we do get her hair cut twice a year, and she seems to enjoy it and perks up with the haircut.

She has that retriever disposition. Very sweet. Loves attention. I will pet her and stop and she will take her wet nose and use it to life up my hand to ask me to pet her more. She’s about 70 pounds and wishes she were a lapdog. She’s 10 and I will miss her dearly when she’s gone. She is a good friend.

Yay!!

These pics are adorable. Gus seems quite accepting and laid back as a kitten. I think he’s going to have good role models.

That is SUCH a gorgeous maine coon.

I refuse to care about how a cat looks–they all deserve love and attention! But I have to admit she really is gorgeous.

Yep, Athena was first in line on amazing fuzzy tail day. She’s really pretty. Simon is a Maine Coon too, but he’s more unique in markings than traditionally beautiful; he has really amusing expressions. Meanwhile, Gus is like “I’m cute AF and I was free, bitches!”

Gus fell asleep watching the season finale of Stargirl last night. He’s cuddly with humans too, when he’s not cranked to 11 in hyper kitten mode.
