So sorry, krayzkrok. If that shot is anything to go by, he must have had a great life in Aussie. Had to say goodbye to my little buddy recently. It’s never an easy decision to make.
Well, he’s gone. The hardest thing I had to do was bury him. I thought I’d be fine with it, I was not fine with it. I mean, I’m glad he’s now resting with us here, but man - impossible to describe how hard it is. At least he was happy for the final road trip, it was almost too much actually because here’s this mentally fit dog whose body is failing around him. The end was quiet, peaceful. I cried, a lot. Enjoy the trip, buddy.
Condolences mate. Never an easy thing to go through.

I am so sorry for your loss. One of the greatest injustices in nature is the short life spans of dogs. They are such incredible companions but we lose them way too quickly.
I’m sorry for your loss, he looks like he was a lot of fun.

So very sorry for your loss, KK. It’s never easy, but it’s the right thing to do.
krayzkrok, sorry to hear about your loss. We lost our dog a few years ago and it still hurts thinking about that final vet ride. A lot of us have been there. Hope you are doing ok.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. One last Matix photo.
Someone post a happy dog picture and let’s get this thread moving again. Actually, any animal would do really.
Well, I’m not sure it counts as a happy animal, but this makes me feel good at least. This last winter has been fairly cold/brutal, but yet I have noticed a LOT of stray cats in the neighborhood. This bums me out. I try to catch them when I’m able, but they always run from me (else I’d keep them warm in a bathroom with some food, water, and litter until I could take them to the local no-kill shelter - I’m bad at catching cats, turns out) so now I just keep food on hand and once or twice a day, I put food out for them.
One cat in particular used to dig into the garbage of everyone in the area, I’d seen her digging into garbage on my way to the gym on garbage day, and now garbage everywhere is safe and she actually waits for me in the mornings to get her food!
She still runs from me when I open the door to put the food out, but not very far. I’ve seen a few other cats eating too. I’d rather they weren’t roaming the neighborhood, but I’m glad to not find (another) dead, frozen kitten on my porch!
I’m so sorry KK, I’m dreading that day eventually coming. Now a happy dog picture of Gus in his bowtie.
That’s great. He looks like a haughty maitre d’. “Would Sir like a serviette, as Sir appears to have spilled wine on his shirt”
You ever get struck by a notion so profound it changes your entire world view? An adorable dog with a bow tie just did that for me.

Here are a couple of our Russian Blue cat, Skye.
I figured this one was a good one with the PC Gamer mag on the table, heh.
Here is one in the basement where he is hanging out by the pool table.
Russian Blues are gorgeous cats. The several I have known have all had lovely temperaments.

The first wife had a blue/caramel tabby mix named Gremlin. He had an excessive number of toes on each paw. He was also abysmally stupid. When we moved to an apartment on the fifth floor he walked out of the kitchen window and walked right off of the fire escape into thin air. He was fine. And really happy to see me when I came to get him. OTOH if he got out of the house via the front door he was in the habit of exploring the space between the elevator doors. So we had to hold up everyone coming home from work until we could coax him out. He was a happy kitty though.
Feeding feral cats is a terrible idea…

My Pups, known by some as “Chadillac,” or just “Chad,” has nothing he enjoys more in life than hiking with me. Until his feet get about frozen above 12,000 feet, at which time he goes into the pack with some little warmers. :)
He also loves being covered in sand and otherwise having fun with it.
It might be the Ch part of his Chug nature.
Hal9000, those are some great shots! The girlfriend and I loved them.
She wants me to ask you though how in the world you manage to bury him in the sand voluntarily. Also, more pics, please.
That goes for the rest of you, too. Meantime, I’m under pressure here to upload a photo of the gf’s cat. So that will likely happen soon. If I can remember how to upload a photo to the hosting service. It’s been a while.
Also, our belated condolences to krayzkrok. Those photos are a nice memorial.
