Yeah, of course it is. But that kind of shitty is normal reversible down the road. It doesn’t require a civil war and underground resistance fighters and all that stuff.

Everyone outside of Fox News should have done this years ago.
Pre-Fox News you would rarely see bile spewing asshats like Coulter or alternative fact idiots like Conway on any of the news outlets to give their opinions. Back then journalistic integrity meant something and the MSM didn’t give the crazy equal time because it didn’t deserve to have a voice. Along comes Fox News and everything changes for the worse. Now the crazy have an outlet to be heard and since they’re on so often as a talking head, crazy now becomes mainstream. For example, when CNN started to get its ass kicked in the ratings by Fox it unleashed that hell spawn Glenn Beck upon the greater world. You don’t give crazy equal time. Period.
It pleases me so much that she will no longer have a voice on CNN. Hopefully the other outlets will follow suit.

Enjoy the mixture of anger and hope as it flows over you.
That is pretty fucking awesome. Thanks for posting it @ShivaX.
Federal appeals court refuses to hear Trump’s appeal on the overturned Muslim ban - for now.

More accurate to say they said no to the stay that Trump wanted.
Which they should for something with that level of impact imo.

Ultimate irony scenario that seems unlikely, but possible.
Lower court rules ban is unconstitutional. It goes to the Supreme Court, where they tie 4-4, so the decision reverts to the lower court.
So what happens if Trump goes all Andrew Jackson and says ‘ignore the courts, get the ban back in place’? If anything has become clear of late, it’s that unless there’s actual political will to enforce them, the rules don’t mean anything. Do you think Trump would go this far, and would anyone stop him if he did?

I think that’s one thing that would actually spur Republicans to push back. Declaring one branch of government null and void I think would cross the line. They don’t care enough about the ban to die on that hill.
Sometimes I wonder. If they end up impeaching their own candidate, they suffer a hell of a hit, right? Everything is so crazy really, I’m finding it hard to judge politics the way I used to.
Anyway, looks like the Washington Post already has some answers.

If Trump is found in contempt, he could be fined whatever amount the judge thinks will force him to comply. And there isn’t really any way for Trump to unilaterally expunge the fine. He could refuse to pay, but the fine will still be on the record and he knows he won’t be president forever. At some point it will come out of his bank account.

I’m sure the Russians will make it worth his while to do whatever he wants.
There’s not much indicating the GOP will do anything at this point. That entire group seems to be fine with whatever their poster boy does so long as they get theirs. I don’t see any indication they care about the rule of land or balances so far… do you?
They care about being re-elected. If Trump goes over a line that starts to put that in doubt, they will push back. Well, unless they go along with the idea of Trump declaring some kind of state of emergency and granting himself dictatorial powers. It’s to the point how if we did have a significant terrorist attack in this country I’d be wondering if it was a false flag attack. Trump doesn’t seem complicated enough for that, but Bannon could be.

I know there are suggestions that Trump supporters regret their choice, but I don’t believe it’s in masses like the news suggests. I live in a red county. He’s doing what he said he would do, and these people vote GOP like their life depends on it. They probably think it does because they were trained to fear minorities and powerful women.
It’s a cinch he knows all about the Reichstag fire.
This. I think plenty of conservative Republicans are pleased as punch with Trump so far. Protesters are seen as people who refuse “to get over it” (i.e., the election). Muslim bans? That’s like catnip. The issues that get the most coverage are those that many conservatives like.
I’m sure there are concerns about cozying up to Russia, but those are more than outweighed by domestic and social issues. They want the Keystone pipeline. They want abortion at least severely restricted. They want immigration to be similarly restricted. They want the US to be a Christian nation, screw the Constitution.
The one crazy person I’m friends with on Facebook has posted at least twice about Muslim countries not allowing Israelis entry and claims it shows the Left’s hypocrisy. So, apparently, he’d like the US to be more like those countries? I don’t follow his logic, but I think it’s Foxian logic, and I think he’s far from alone here in deep-red Kansas.
I think there are plenty of Republicans who will support anyone in office who says they’re Republican even if their policies aren’t (e.g., protectionism). What will cause that to change? I’m not sure. Economic collapse, maybe. (That’s not just a Republican issue; I know a few Dems like that too.) Right now those guys are beside themselves with glee with a Republican Congress too; I don’t see that changing, honestly.
As a lifelong Republican (who never voted for Trump, I hasten to add), I’m scared to death for the future of the Republic. I guess that’s why I’m finally posting in P&R. All it’s going to take is one attack–and apparently it could be an imaginary one–and the Patriot Act is going to look like it was drafted by the ACLU. Honestly, I’m not convinced Trump isn’t the anti-Christ.
A 9/11-scale attack on Trump’s watch is almost too horrible to contemplate.
