Absolutely. Heck, when my daughter had one a few months ago, the prep was all OTC stuff. But you do NOT want the one with the gallon jug (which may not even be a thing anymore)

It is. That’s what I had to do. It wasn’t pleasant because I had to drink so much liquid and spend a lot of time on the toilet. It wasn’t horrible, though. The actual colonoscopy was a breeze in comparison.

The nurse & doctor set me up pretty well though, if anyone else is having a colonoscopy my advice is:

cake that vaseline over your asshole early on in the evenings proceedings

It helps.*

*also move your vics vaporub to a different bathroom, you dont want to mix those two up, I speak from experience.

The worst part of a colonoscopy is the prep. I had mine on a Tuesday this year. My last solid food was Sunday evening. Limited to only certain types of liquids after that, such as chicken broth and Gatorade (but nothing orange colored). Awful industrial-strength laxative on Monday night.

The procedure itself is fast and you’re sedated. But make sure to schedule it as early in the day as possible. The sooner it’s over, the sooner you can eat.

You prepped your own butt hole prior to going into the doctor?

I’m imagining your doctor going in there, starting the procedure, and being like

@Timex lol that would be cool :) But nah, its for the night before when you shit out your stomach for hours, so your asshole gets chaffed. Vaseline helps that and I highly recommend using it :)

Its better than the alternative :) If you are ~50 I recommend it.

For someone like me colon cancer is the leading cause of death and a colonscopy is a fairly trivial procedure (if admittedly a pain in the ass). Well worth it.
