I had exactly the same thought. :)

Second-term Obama is my favorite Obama.

Will Trump saying that he “absolutely” will create a database to track American Muslims finally sink his campaign? How can a viable Presidential contender really say something like that?!

It’s the ultimate irony that the anti-refugee chorus is arguing that letting them in is a huge threat to our national security, when (as Obama and just about every expert on terrorism interviewed in the past week have said) the greatest threat to our national security is turning away Syrian refugees while acting like arrogant racist assholes.

Let the refuges in and we could be letting in a handful of already-existing potential terrorists. Turn them away and we’ve created thousands of potential terrorists that didn’t exist before. Which is the bigger threat to America?

Here’s a petition that can be signed and sent to your elected representatives.

I’m in. I really don’t do those often, but this is important!

On some levels I hope more than ever that he gets the nomination. I feel like Republican rhetoric has been growing increasingly un-American for years now and it has to end at some point. Being able to point to them and say, “You, the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower, have nominated a fascist to run for President. Do not pretend to be anything other than extremist at this point. Consider yourselves marginalized.”

Hah. Just saw an article on this: http://www.thetrace.org/2015/11/terror-gap-nra-republicans-background-checks/

NRA fighting firearm restrictions for persons on the terrorist watch list.

Latest poll http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/poll-trump-retakes-lead-gop-race-cruz-makes-gains-n466651 (and yes it’s just one poll) showing Trump still leading, with Cruz gaining at the expense of Carson.

There’s a lot to not like about Cruz (more accurately, there’s nothing to like about Cruz) but despite what comes out of his mouth, Cruz is not an idiot (you can’t be an idiot and clerk for a Supreme Court judge.) This has been his play all along, bide his time and pick up Trump and Carson supporters.

Totally agree with you Rightbug. I hope Trump or Cruz gets the Republican nomination (sorry GOP supporters.*) Rubio is far more dangerous - he can sound moderate but really isn’t. These guys though are the real thing - strident conservatism laid bare.

*Not really.

Strident radical conservatism.

I wonder how those optics will effect them? NRA supports terrorists.l?

Do you genuinely believe that?

Not the “most” part, but “many”? Yes. Absolutely. Not that they’d go and do it themselves, but they certainly wouldn’t be upset about it. And they’re probably find a way to blame the victims after the fact.

Members of the GOP ready to get down and dirty against Trump.

“In the absence of our efforts, Trump is exceedingly unlikely to implode or be forced out of the race,” the Trump Card memo says. “The stark reality is that unless something dramatic and unconventional is done, Trump will be the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton will become president.”

Double post!

Hopefully they sabotage him and he runs as an independent in revenge.

Heh. I would probably start looking at property in Belize to move to if Trump got elected. But that said, I remember certain members of this forum freaking out when I posted how creepy it was that Obama had a personal logo and pointed out that a certain German leader was fond of logos. Now, we not only openly call candidates Hitler but compare their slogans with the Nazis without so much a shrug.

You should get out more. If Republicans thought shooting Muslims was okay it would already be happening. They have lots of guns.

Yeah, man, because someone having a logo–like an abundance of other people and companies–is totally the same as someone proposing that members of particular religious group should be required to register and get tracked in some database while also receiving some form of “special identification.” Yup.

Given that you’re an actual CEO/ successful businessman, I am sure you understand the importance of branding. It’s important for political campaigns, too. Logos are a core component of branding. I don’t see the issue assuming he didn’t pick a swastika or hammer & sickle.

As a test, I just googled up “jeb bush logo,” “mccain logo,” “rubio logo” and “fiorina logo.” They all have a specific logo. They all look like professional work by graphic designers. Shouldn’t they?

This is the difficult part of communicating with hardcore conservatives. “Obama did something [absolutely normal and noncontroversial], so he’s a tyrant/ fascist/ socialist/ america-hater.” How do people make that sort of connection? Not a rhetorical question. I would really like to understand this.
