Donald pulls out the birther card to use on Cruz:

Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question: ‘Do we want a candidate who could be tied up in court for two years?’ That’d be a big problem…" Trump added: “I’d hate to see something like that get in his way. But a lot of people are talking about it and I know that even some states are looking at it very strongly, the fact that he was born in Canada and he has had a double passport.”

This Trump offensive can only result in more .gifs where Cruz is given a Terrance and Phillip head, so I’m all in favor.

I don’t have trouble rationalizing it at all, it’s totally true.
I just feel really bad about it. And part of me still hopes that those trump supporters aren’t actually going to vote, and we’ll wake up after the primaries and trump will get totally destroyed, with an embarrassingly low vote, and we can all point and laugh at him.

I care that a man that wants to be in a position to make decisions that can profoundly affect the lives of 300 million people, wants to be commander of the most powerful military in the history of the world is afraid to say “I don’t know.” He still looks like an idiot, but at least he didn’t admit it?

Straight out of the republican playbook. It is better to be wrong than weak.

Uh oh Cruz better get his long form birth certificate out!

Sweet sweet irony and schadenfreude.

I do have to give Cruz some style points for his response. He cited Trump’s assertion in a Tweet and then simply linked to a video of The Fonz jumping over a shark. When asked for clarification, he directed the reporter to watch the full Happy Days episode.

And Trump’s standard line for these things is starting to ring a little hollow: “I’d hate to see something like that get in his way. But a lot of people are talking about it and I know that even some states are looking at it very strongly, the fact that he was born in Canada and he has had a double passport.”

That’s the now-standard Fox News line: “A lot of people are talking about it!” No dude, YOU are talking about it, and then you cite yourself as a source.

In other news, the UK is debating today on whether or not to vote Trump off the island. Trump, predictably, is kind of ticked off at the whole idea, threatening to take his ball and go home if… the UK tells him to take his ball and go home.

However, according to the Trump Organization, a ban would “alienate the many millions of United States citizens who wholeheartedly support Mr. Trump and have made him the forerunner by far in the 2016 presidential election.” Further, the Trump Organization warned that were the U.K. to take any action against its namesake, it would “force The Trump Organization to immediately end [investments in Turnberry] and all future investments we are currently contemplating in the United Kingdom.”

That’s the now-standard Fox News line: “A lot of people are talking about it!” No dude, YOU are talking about it, and then you cite yourself as a source.

Yeah, I really, REALLY hate this kind of bullshit. It’s obnoxious and cowardly.

Trump’s bullying reminds me of scenes in every old mobster movie ever. “That’s an awful nice store you’ve got there… It’s be a shame if anything happened to it.”

:)

I can’t wait.

Fox-watchers have been taught to disdain Canada’s “socialist” healthcare system. I wonder if they have a generally poor view of the country, now, and whether that may rub off on Cruz once they realize that he’s a fake Texan.

Shouldn’t that crazy Arizona sheriff be looking into Cruz’s birth certificate by now? The guy was born in Canada and has a Hispanic name.

So under Trump’s fascist policy, should Cruz be deported north to Canada or south behind the paid-by-Mexico wall? I’m so confused.

This is a good point. Because he was born in Canada, Cruz is a socialist.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Canadians built a wall.

Most of the world would be sympathetic.

Trump doubled down on this in an interview with wolf blitzer.

Oh, he also said that he doesn’t know about Obama. He has a theory. Some day he will write a book about his theory about Obama.

Holy shit.

Is there a point at which the people he does business with will conclude they don’t need to take him seriously, either?

It’s something I’ve wondered about, since Trump is a brand. How long before running for president and exposing yourself as a racist wackadoodle becomes a business liability?

But then I remember he was all over the media with the birtherism three years ago, and it’s not like he took any sort of hit.

He keeps saying the same thing, which I have to think is some kind of corporate speak. It usually goes like this:

I may have heard {thing} but I’m not sure about it. But. If {thing} is true, then he {person} might have a problem.

Of course that {thing} has nothing to do with me.

But, if {thing} is true, then he or she is fucked.

Because they DID {thing that I was vague about}

And they should be called out about it.

But nevermind that. Clinton had his dick sucked.
