Am I allowed to say “Very smart move by Trump”?

There it is.

I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,” Ms. Palin said in a statement provided by his campaign.

Her support is the highest-profile backing for a Republican contender so far.

“I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement,” Mr. Trump said in a statement trumpeting Mrs. Palin’s decision. “She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support.”

But I wonder who is going to be applying the pressure and will anybody listen to them. Most of the Republican establishment ran for President this cycle. If you believe the polling there is a big disconnect between the Republican primary voters and the “establishment”.

I believe the main thing that will cause all the 2-5% folks to drop out is running out of money.

What justification though? It used to be that the candidates would drop out because the money just wasn’t there to compete any further - buying TV and radio spots to compete in states further down the road just looked too daunting.

But nowadays that’s not really true. Although there are some ad buys directly from campaign funds, most of the campaigns are just sort of shrugging and winking at media and letting their SuperPACs spend their unaccountable - largely unlimited - money on the ads while they only spend “true” campaign funds on salaries.

Is Palin popular, and if so - with whom?

She still has a large following on Twitter and Facebook. Does anyone put real political stock in her as a force for popular movement? I doubt it.

Yeah, I imagine the Venn diagram that contains fans of Trump, Cruz, and Palin has a fair bit of overlap.

Not anymore, really. She hasn’t been in favor among the anti-Trump pro-Cruz sort of conservative for a few years now.

Ted Cruz’ response on Twitter:

I love @SarahPalinUSA Without her support, I wouldn’t be in the Senate. Regardless of what she does in 2016, I will always be a big fan.

As for Iowa , Gov. Terry Branstad did this:

Speaking to a small group of reporters at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit in Altoona, where several 2016 presidential candidates are slated to speak, Branstad labeled Cruz a “big oil” candidate whose victory would be “very damaging to our state.”

“It would be a big mistake for Iowa to support him,” Branstad said. “And I know he’s ahead in the polls but the only poll that counts is the one they take on caucus night and I think that could change between now and then.”

Asked by a reporter whether he wants to see Cruz defeated, Branstad answered: “Yes.”

Considering what a dumb idea corn ethanol is, I’d take the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit’s dismissal as an endorsement.

It’s weird how some Republicans hold such high regard for a quitter of a governor who is by far the biggest reason why Republicans lost the presidency for 8 years.

I’ll make it easier for you. ;)

Note that any changes to your voter registration must be made at least 29 days before the primary, which in Florida is the Presidential Preference Primary Election on March 15, 2016, so you don’t have a lot of time left.

GWB is the biggest reason. Palin was a sideshow (which didn’t help, but McCain wasn’t going to win anyways, otherwise by your logic Romney would have won in 2012).

The reason the ones who like her still do, is because she tells them what they want to hear, factual or not. Kind of like Trump.

Palin is actually very popular with Iowa Republicans, according to polling data. Smart move by Trump.

Palin allows trump to secure the final 1% of legitimately retarded people who are still technically eligible to vote.

I wonder if Ted Cruz is trying to find Joe the Plumber’s phone number.

The establishment candidates dismissed these voters without much thought, and in a similar fashion.

Perhaps it would be better to listen to them, understand their concerns, and come up with alternatives to Trumps proposals.

The other option is to deal with four to eight years of Trump.

That’s interesting, thank you.

My issue is that so far, their concerns boil down to “Muslims, Mexicans, and Obama ruined America!” The alternative proposals involve sanity, which doesn’t seem too popular with this slice of voters.

Perhaps it would be better to listen to them, understand their concerns, and come up with alternatives to Trumps proposals.

Since they are completely immune to facts, and don’t care when trump just flat out lies to them, there is no way by which you can actually present a rational argument to them.
