Yes it can. Have you met conservative media?

It’s hard for me to tell what passes for “good” answers in the GOP debates, but I think he’s done well there… Maybe? He’s almost as good as Trump & Cruz at wielding political fallacies anyway.

Yeah, I can’t tell either. From what I gather, Rubio’s platform is to cut taxes on the wealthy so he can spend more on defense. And if we don’t spend more, then the ISIS navy will invade with their carriers and troop transports and over run our weakened military because Obama. (He accused Cruz of voting for budgets that cut defense spending, when in fact Cruz voted for a budget that called for a smaller increase in defense than Obama had in his budget.) Anyway, it’s not just the conservative media, but the MSM as well:

Rubio: It’ll be a good sign if I come in third in Iowa.
Media: Rubio will gain momentum if he can finish 3rd in Iowa.

So… does anyone else think Ted Cruz sounds like a black guy doing a white guy voice?

After having to sit through his unskippable 30s ad for the 20th time in a day (seriously, go fuck yourself, Trump and Sanders let me skip their fucking ads), I posted something on Facebook about it and it seems to resonate with everyone I know. Black, white, liberal, conservative, gay, straight everyone seems to agree he does, in fact, sound like a black guy doing a white guy voice.

Well, except the racist guy, he said Sanders was worse.

Technically he’s a Hispanic guy doing a white guy voice.

Lies, he sounds nothing like this.

Speaking of Jeb! and Kasich, I spent the day driving around the East coast of New Hampshire yesterday (I live in more liberal Western NH) and while I saw signs for every Republican candidate except Carson and Paul, Jeb! and Kasich dominated. I also had a Kasich volunteer knock on my door the other day. I know that Jeb was expected to do better here than elsewhere but I also suspect that we will see a stronger than expected showing for Kasich.

What’s so weird is that despite being clearly conservative, the far right seems to absolutely HATE Kasich.

I suspect it’s because his reasonable positions and willingness to compromise makes some of the other candidates statements seem all the more absurd. Saying things like, “we can’t just tear up the Iran deal” flies on the face of the folks saying that they are going to do that on day one, and so it makes them hate him.

But fuck those guys, because they are idiots, and they’ve been driving the bus long enough.

There may be some regional antipathy, from southerners at least. The other issue is tone. People are angry and he’s done little to recognize that. His tone would be more appropriate for America circa 1996. He’s also difficult to connect to emotionally - he’s too bland, and when he complains it can sound like whining.

Those on the hard right also hold the Ohio Medicaid expansion against Kasich. He broke ideological ranks.

Kasich lacks antipathy toward the enemies of freedom (e.g., democrats, brown people… a little over half the country, all told). He never had a chance.

He comes across as weak, and at times petulant.

Those are entirely matters of tone, not content.

Rand, for example, has a somewhat similar problem. He’s not exactly weak, but he can be the (insufferable) high school know-it-all.

Good point.

What exactly about Kasich seems weak?

He’s not willing to say he’s absolutely gung ho about bombing Iran and all muslims.

Exactly, he’s a God-less, commie, RINO!

And, and, Rachel Mad-Cow likes him, now that’s the kiss of death.

If he wasn’t so sincere about demolishing unions, destroying abortion access, and other fun stuff, I might be able to consider voting for him.

The way he holds himself, the way he talks.

This. This shit, right there. This is why it would take every god ever invented by man to get me to vote Republican these days. And I’m not a Bernie supporter. Reminds me of when the RNC spread pamphlets around southern states during the 2004 election stating that John Kerry, notorious childhood altar boy, was literally going to ban the Bible if elected. This level of fear mongering works well with the weak minded, and the GOP has spent the last 35+ years recruiting the nation’s intellectual bottom feeders into their ranks. They know the base they’ve created quite well.

I’ve realized that I not only hate trump, but have grown to hate basically everything associated with trump.

His campaign people are, without exception, slimey douches. They exude the shiftless feel of used car salesman. And they constantly just spew bullshit.

And his supporters are, without fail, absolute imbeciles. Yeah, yeah, I know, “you should take the time to understand their feelings!” That’s not going to change the fact that they are imbeciles. The fact that they say and do such absolutely idiotic things, simply because of some animalistic emotional response, is exactly what makes them imbeciles.

“If we pool all our resources collectively, we can defeat socialism!”

I see what you did there. Chapeau.
