I was under the impression that Kasich was angling for the VP spot.

Thanks for posting this, Pyperkub.

Meh. Your hatred of Trump is so great I think it’s making you see things you want to see. I’ll believe Rubio’s got it figured out once I see the Super Tuesday results.

This is the most depressing thing I’ve seen this week.
I think Christie genuinely doesn’t have respect for Rubio or Cruz, so why not Kasich, or simply not make an endorsement. So far he is the only person that’s endorsed Trump that I had any respect for. I hope this isn’t that start of a trend.

Strikes me as Christie being petty–getting back at “the establishment” that he feels ditched him and hung him out to dry. Either that, or he and Trump have like business ties or something. Or maybe, as alluded to above, it’s a case of the loudmouths flocking together. No matter what the reason, it’s both strange and vaguely disturbing.

Yes, this got lost in the Christie news, but it’s well worth reading.

Did you guys miss triggercut’s post? Rubio voted against Sandy aid. That probably plays a large role.

(We need a random thought political thread)
Switching gears, my short list of VP for Clinton:

Julian Castro
Sherrod Brown
Al Franken
Colin Powell

Colin Powell is 78, and his reputation never recovered after the WMD/Iraq fiasco.

Yeah, Powell’s never going to happen. He was one of the people instrumental to selling everyone on the invasion of Iraq, and I’m pretty sure many will not forget him standing in front of the rest of the UN and presenting then already questionable ‘evidence’.

Julian Castro is completely unqualified to be VP. He’s only 41, and his job experience boils down to Mayor of San Antonio and HUD Secretary. That’s below the Palin line. If it’s just about finding a nice-looking Hispanic, I’d prefer Penelope Cruz.

That might explain it, I guess, but that’s more anti-Rubio than pro-Trump. Either way, Christie is being petty.

It’s kind of amazing to me that just by getting the endorsement of a former candidate who barely registered, Trump now has the news cycle back on his side. The man has jedi master-like control of the narrative.

I didn’t realize Powell was 78. So never mind. (As far as the U.N. speech, I think he’s earned ‘forgiveness’ on that, but his age makes that moot.)

As far as Castro - I can’t think of many young Democrats with a national profile (the ripples of 2010 keep spreading.)

… More people live in San Antonio than all of Alaska.

I’ve long been of the opinion that if Gore had won in 2000, that Powell would have won the Presidency in 2004.

Not sure how long it will last. Palin was supposed to be a big deal, and later what, one day?

Here’s a thing that is interesting.
Trump tweeted stuff from white supremacists and didn’t delete those retweets even after it was pointed out.

He deleted tweets within hours after Rubio made fun of him over them.

This really is his Achilles heel, rubio just needs to press on it.

He doesn’t care about substantial criticism on policy matters. But he freaks out when the criticism is directed at him personally, because his ego is so fragile.

The news coverage is probably the only benefit.

The amusing thing to me is that his “answer” to trump to attempt to out trump him. This hasn’t worked out well for any previous political enemy. However, as you say, it is probably his only chance. Do or die.

Maybe not this cycle. The How to Dunk on His Orangeness playbook has been out there for about five years now.

The rest of the field were so sure Trump would implode, when it should have been obvious after about his fourth straight incendiary statement without repercussion, that once he dragged the WWE into the primary, removing it would be like taking the pee out of the pool.

The one that tipped me off that there was nothing Trump could say that would hurt him was when he bad mouthed American prisoners of war saying that heroes don’t get caught. I can’t think of anything that would have been more toxic to the conservative base than this and it didn’t harm him at all. It would have ended the political career of any traditional candidate. I was fairly certain from that point that the only thing that would stop Trump would be if he lost interest and pulled out.
