So slow… Low energy.
Elsewhere, Lindsey Graham is now saying the party should probably unite behind Ted Cruz. This would be the same Lindsey Graham that just last week said:
Between Graham and Christie and Ailes you’d almost think the GOP was a pragmatic party of hypocritical power-seekers with no ideology of their own.
To be fair to Lindsey, he did say that he couldnt believe that he was saying this about Ted Cruz. But supporting Ted Cruz is a hell of a lot easier for most Republicans than voting for Hillary.

I think in the case of Graham, it’s more a case that he’d rather have a terrible guy like Cruz than a literal authoritarian fascist.
Every election I always throw up the Cthulhu election posters that have things like “why settle for the lesser evil?” but they don’t work this year.
Trump is worse that an elder God who seeks to end all creation through madness. He’s a greater evil than a Lovecraftian nightmare.
To be fair to Lindsey, he did say that he couldnt believe that he was saying this about Ted Cruz. But supporting Ted Cruz is a hell of a lot easier for most Republicans than voting for Hillary.
I don’t think graham is even running about winning against the Democrats. I think he just wants to stop Trump at any cost.
Trump would devastate the current party leadership. If he won, and let’s pretend he did, he would reshape the RNC in his own image. The mainstream would become the fringe, and thousands would lose their jobs not to mention their influence.
You mean it would be just like what happens when republicans lose their bid for the presidency?
That is the P&R quote of the day.
No, I’m thinking of the party bureaucracy and the think tanks.
Trump says he’s growing the party, and that may be true. His version of the party might have broader appeal. But it will mean casting some people aside.

I was going to correct you and say an Elder God would drive everyone insane and then I remembered Trump’s numbers.

He’s growing it like Hitler grew the nazi party.

That must be photoshopped.
Oh for fucks sake
How am I the only one who is absolutely losing my shit over this?
Why? Hitler had plenty of sympathizers up until he went full belligerent in 1939 (and even past, to some extent), and the Holocaust wasn’t known until much, much later.

That is actually the real document, NYT did a profile of Hitler in 1922 and that’s it.

He had a lot of support for a long time. Hell, if Germany hadn’t declared war on us when we declared it on Japan it’s possible we wouldn’t have gotten directly involved at all (though I suspect we would have just to halt the Soviets).
The entire page of the paper. The article about Mussolini on this page is also of interest and germane to this discussion.
I’m not sure the Soviets would have won if the US wasn’t involved against Germany. A lot of divisions were tied up in the West.
That was important, but I think Lend Lease really made the difference. They would have had massive supply problems without our aid.
