I agree take the caps off, see how much revenue is raised, than take half of the raise to cut the overall rate so it’s a small tax cut to the rest of the population paid for by the rich.
Uh, no -
“Now extreme views about women? We expect that from some terrorist groups. We expect that from people who don’t want to live in the modern world,’’ Clinton said in Cleveland.
“But it’s a little hard to take coming from Republicans who want to be the president of the United States, yet they espouse out-of-date and out-of-touch policies,” she said. “They are dead wrong for 21st century America.”
Their views are akin to the religious fundamentalist terrorists and they are willing to shut down the Government of the United States in order to deprive women of their CONSTITUTIONAL Rights.
Could it have been phrased better? Sure. But she’s not calling the Candidates terrorists.
FWIW, they ALL are situations with the life of the mother - hence “choice”, and the mother’s perspective on what the life of both the mother and child will be. Until such time as the Pro-Life faction is prepared to carry the embryo to delivery and then raise the child to the age of self sufficiency for the mother/embryo, it IS a situation with the life of the Mother.
Hopefully she planned it to offend Republican candidates and generate click-bait headlines. Because if she didn’t and honestly expected no one would pick up on that, then I need to reevaluate my thoughts on her intelligence.

Honestly, what i suspect is that she planned it to drawstring from the other issues that kept cropping up in the media around the email investigation.
Hillary Clinton has issues with the public perceiving her as deceitful, and the email investigation further exacerbates that problem. Insulting Republicans doesn’t have any negative repercussions in that regard, and generally isn’t going to offend anyone who doesn’t already hate her. But it will get those people screaming about this new issue which will fail to gain traction, instead of the email one which was gaining traction.
Overall, probably a smart, well calculated political move.

And I will agree that we do a woeful job, as a country, with actually being pro-life once that life is born. It’s a bit reductionist, but largely true, that the Republican position vis a vis abortion is that the embryo is the most important thing in the world, until it is born. At which point that baby and mother deserve absolutely no help, the bunch of leeches.
Which is why the Republican position is offensive to me. I’m generally pro choice, but not up until the moment the baby is born. Sorry, but you will not convince me that abortions in the third trimester are ok. At that point other social systems should be the solution, such as adoption or social care programs.

This is exactly how I feel about the issue, both paragraphs.
I think it would be well-neigh impossible to find someone who believes that third-trimester abortions should be allowed outside of ludicrously rare edge cases.
Gallup says differently approximately 30% think abortion should be legal under any circumstance, and the same number oppose a law which would ban partial birth abortions even with a life of the mother exception.
Still a solid majority have American a more nuanced view of abortion, but the debate is almost entirely shaped by the extremist.
C’mon, Strollen, look at the wording of that question. I’ll lay you odds that the 30% would get a lower # if one of those conditions was specifically delineated as elective late pregnancy. I’m extremely pro-choice, but even I wouldn’t cry if the nation outlawed elective 3rd trimester abortions, especially if as CraigM said we had more robust social policy to aid with adoption.

I honestly can’t find how to watch it, as their network is so amateurish
Seems like everybody wants to see proper, non lamestream journalism in action. http://www.oann.com/ is down. :(
For the non cord cutters in the US, the following channels mentioned on the FB page might be useful?
Two Hours until the interview of the year with Donald J. Trump, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush! 10 pm EST - 7 pm PST. On AT&T U-verse 208 & 1208 (HD)
& Verizon FiOS 116 & 616 (HD).

The link I gave had dozens of questions and results about abortion. 14% specifically thought the 3rd trimester abortions should be legal. How much more specific do you want it? On the flip side 13% thought it should be illegal even if the life of the mother is in danger. As I said it is the 1/3 of the country that sees this as black & white issue that’s shaping the debate.

Yeah, there are folks on the extremes who are basically arguing from a purely ideological perspective and not at all thinking about it deeper than a surface level rule. The extreme right is arguing based on religious dogma, and the extreme left is arguing based on a fear that any compromise will eventually slide into a complete banning of abortion rights.
I misunderstood your earlier post then. I thought you were saying 1/3 of the nation was so pro-choice that they supported late term abortions. But, hey, like I said it was a lower # regarding 3rd trimester abortions :P
Which, to be fair, is the stated goal of mainstream anti-abortion activists.
I was responding to Tin’s post.
I think it would be well-neigh impossible to find someone who believes that third-trimester abortions should be allowed outside of ludicrously rare edge cases.
14% is still a large number.
