I’m just kind of baffled that anyone at all contours to give a pass when he clearly doesn’t know anything, and just says sit like, “I’m gonna do it so good!”

I mean Holy Christ, he literally says exactly that, something which sounds so idiotic as to appear as a parody of a bullshitter.

This won’t matter to the base. These are people who think the president is a foreign born Muslim who renamed a mountain to something that means “Black Power” in Kenyan. They are impervious to reason.

I don’t think it means he won’t.

I love it. Fox reporter asks him a tough question in the debates, and he fumbles and stumbles and then attacks her. This conservative radio host asks him a straightforward question (that he asked other candidates,) Trump look like a fool, and then he responds by calling the radio host all kinds of names.

“I don’t know nuthin’ about nuthin’ now, but when I’m president I’ll be a genius!”

“Yes, Mr. Trump, I’m here to interview for the job as your head of security for all of your buildings. No sir, I have no idea what a security camera is. No sir, I have no experience at all with any kind of law enforcement or what the laws are regarding security, but I was GREAT at my job at Duncan Doughnuts and if I run all your security I will be AMAZING at it.”

I would love to see this expose him as the charlatan he is, and have it just utterly destroy his business.

Right now on CNN, apparently Sarah Palin send to be gunning for a VP slot with trump, babbling in support of his nonsense. Talking about how it doesn’t really matter if you know who the leader of a religion, or a tribe, or even a country is.

Palin:

On the other hand, I think we can send a message and say, 'You want to be in America, A, you’d better be here legally or you’re out of here. B, when you’re here, let’s speak American.

Wow.

Maybe Secretary of Education?

She’s actually asked to be energy secretary under Trump so she can abolish all regulations and then shut the department down.

That’s almost as good. [to clarify for innocent bystanders, my recommendations for a cabinet position for her are entirely sarcastic]

About damn time we privatized the US nuclear arms stockpile. Its just the kind of thing that the free market can do better than the Department of Energy.
On the down side, it does put her close to the bottom of succession.

It’s scary to consider that between Trump and Palin, she is the politically savvy one.

Krugman has an interesting piece about Trump in the NYT. He raises a point I hadn’t thought of before, that Trump is showing that the rank and file Republicans don’t have a problem with raising taxes on the rich and Trump’s criticism about off-shoring corporate money to avoid taxes. This makes sense since the rank-and-file Republican voters aren’t part of the one percent.

Most Republican candidates don’t dare suggest raising taxes on the wealthy or criticizing corporate strategies to avoid taxes because those sources are their money train. Trump is self-funding so he doesn’t need their money.

It also shows how the GOP’s policy of using subtle racism to cobble together enough voters to win is still in play, because none of the other GOP candidates are really going after Trump over his ridiculous ideas of building a giant wall along the border or his plan to round up 11 million illegal immigrants and ship them out.

The question then becomes, would Trump act on that, and what does Trump really believe?

The second question is how do Dems get folks to vote for the economic priorities, and if the Republicans keep losing, does Wall Street switch to and corrupt the Dems (that is what I am afraid of- in such a scenario I’d be forced to vote with folks with social policies I don’t necessarily like)

Who knows what Trump would do? Anyway, if the Republicans control Congress, which they surely would if Trump led the ticket and won, I doubt they would let him raise those taxes easily. It would be a weird situation.

I don’t know how the Dems get people to vote their own economic self-interest instead of voting based on irrational fears – illegals are taking our jobs, all our tax money is going for paying lazy, shiftless people – many of them black! – not to work. They will make us face a death panel when I need healthcare! They will make guns illegal!

Guns, abortion, racism, lies (death panel nonsense, etc.) and toss in traditional conservatives and you have the Republican formula. Not that the Democrats don’t have their own knee-jerk, emotional issues too, along with their own dissembling.

I hate to break it to you but if the GOP has both legs in bed with corporate/monied interests, the Dems have at least one leg in the same bed.

Which is where a large percentage of my distaste for Hillary comes in. Or hell, look how (not) tough Obama was on Bank of America and Citicorp.

And this is why I support Bernie, and would even consider Trump. I’m willing to try anything to break that hold corporate interests have on American politics.

Yes but this doesn’t matter at all. Why? The republicans are much worse so people who care about this stuff are not going to vote repulican over hillary.

While true, it is also a case of damning with faint praise. So while the may not meaningfully address this (Bernie excepted), don’t expect me to ever be happy about it, or to stop hoping or an overturn of Citizens United.
