PSP Drive - nifty PSP content blog

If you have a PSP, check it out. They point to video and audio content, saved games, and stuff like that for your PSP, all formatted and ready to go.

The interesting part is that they use a java app that can send the file directly to your PSP if it’s plugged in and turned on. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s a great idea. Oh, and they divide everything up into “channels” with RSS feeds, so if it’s easy to subscribe to a channel and watch what rolls in with an aggregator.

The site’s only a couple days old so it’s mostly podcasts and movie trailers, but it’s growing.

This should go nicely with the Wipeout browser hack. :)

This makes me wonder about the PS3. When Sony announced the PSP, I totally never expected to use it for much beyond games. And yet, now I find myself using it as a general purpose entertainment platform way more than I expected to. I read books, listen to music, play emulated games, watch shows, plus I never expected all this formatted for PSP media, or the types of cool things they are coming out with on UMD that aren’t on DVD. I like all the ports and junk on the PS3 and begin to wonder if that will happen again. They’ll catch me off guard with everything it can do. I kind of doubt it, because its not portable, but now I’m much more curious.

And just think, this is only the beginning! I can’t wait to see what happens once Adventure Player comes out and the emulation scene really starts to burn!

Once I can start playing all my old nintendo games on it I will be a happy clam. The biggest gripe I have with everything else is the retarded as fuck video naming system. Seriously they just couldnt make it easy could they?

Yeah, I think it would be even more successful if it were easier, but its still really good.

I mean hell, there’s even porn coming to the PSP! Can you imagine any need for portable porn? Can you imagine some dirty old man watching people get it on, on a train or in a park?

No, not in public. But I can see some dude in a hotel room with his PSP… wait, I don’t really need to imagine that.

I’d like to know who thought “Ad Hoc” and “Infrastructure” were the best names to describe different types of multiplayer.

Those are standard terms for different types of 802.11 networking. Ad Hoc means peer-to-peer, basically, and Infrastructure means you’re using a router.

Yeah as he said about thats the standard names but I agree they should have done a better job with the names.

Yeah, I didn’t mean to imply that those were therefor acceptable identifiers to choose for something like this. That’s dumb.

I think the PSP is just a game system that finally has the power and ability to take what the Palm/PocketPC has had for years (In terms of applications not games) and make it viable for many people to carry around. I think if you own a PocketPC you don’t really consider moving video and strange applications to the PSP because you can do that on your PPC with much greater ease and ability. Not to mention a wider swath of applications. Pretty soon you’ll want a keyboard or a touch screen for the PSP.

It is absolutely critical that someone gets MAME on PSP working!!!
