Purple photos

OK, my wife dyed some yarn, and it looks pretty cool but it’s a bright purple. She wants a picture of it, but we can’t get one with our digital cameras. It comes out blue every time. Any tips?

It’s a bit similar to the purple used by the Minnesota Vikings.

Film/camera sensors and the human eye don’t see light in the same way. The fluorescent qualities of many dyes emit extra wavelengths of light that film/camera sensors sometimes handle strangely.

Change the color in photoshop.

Yes, it definitely has flourescent qualities. I 'll try a photoshop job.

You will also see the same color effects if you take photographs of certain flowers. Nature is weird in that way.

In photoshop, try doing a selective color replace.

If your camera offers control over white balance, try that if you haven’t already.
