What!!! I am a hoarder and got to 300 space asap, i keep multiple lots of every evo material going. I would say a minimum of 100 is necessary at the start, i think he said he had 40. Once you start getting the rarer evo materials and need to evolve stuff it becomes a real pain when you have to wait a week or so, i screwed up with mythlits last week and got 4 of them and then by sunday realised i needed 3 more and will need to wait until friday for them.

It is not worth using stones to refresh stamina yet, only roll the rem on godfests which comer round every 2 or 3 weeks and normally they give away a stone a day for a week or so so you nojrmally get 1 or 2 rolls anyways and spend the stones from dungeons on box space.

Also only roll on the pal machine when there are kings or evo materials going, at lower levels with pal evo rolls you can get some harder to get stuff like keepers of the rainbow, dub mythlits etc which can go in your team for a 1 cost and some are really worthwhile using until you get more team cost

Been all quiet recently.

I managed to eventually snag Hera-IS meaning i have all three Hera’s.

Also managed to pick up the Zombie dragon which is a great HP stick, over 5000 at max level which turns in to 20,000 on a luci team which makes for even lazier play.

Lots of new ult evos as well, especially for the healers meaning Alraune and Archangel can now server a better purpose and Siren and lilith to come soon.

Have managed to hit rank 167 which gives me 100 stamina as well.

Hopefully get a few new collabs coming as well.

Hi guys – help me out. I’m stuck in a rut.

You can check out my monsters on padherder. http://www.padherder.com/user/fire.qt3/monsters/

I need to evolve a bunch of them – some for fun and some for profit – and I’m having a hell of a time gathering ingredients.

The rut is that I’m using an Angel/demon team and I rely 100% on an Odin friend being online. Which is to say I have no idea how to stop sucking without an Odin on my team. I need a rainbow mask. That requires running expert masks a bunch of times. Ditto for ghosts. I only have 3 Odin friends. And they don’t like being on Odin duty for me every freaking day.

I recently rolled in the god fest and landed Ares, which is great, but again, evolution is necessary to really have him be useful.

So within my team build constraints, can you help me build another team that relies on maybe some other friends besides Odin?

If you weren’t so far in, I would have recommended re-rolling. As it is, I’d suggesting getting some dub mythlits and using your black noel dragon with a lucifer friend until you have the experience to get ares functional.

For weekly dungeons, I’d suggest using a zombie team (the strongest auto healer your friends have, and the lowest level ogre and other subs that are the same color), rather than odin (except for the tuesday one)

I’m stuck. I’m trying to get a better healer for my team (right now I have a dryad). I’m trying to get the Mermaid by grinding the Seacave mercury / Voice of the Siren, but she never seem to appear. Any other ideas of how I might get her? Am I missing something?

And my next dungeon is Castle of Satan which right now seems impossible. Maybe I’m a shitty player, but I’m barely making with my team, which I think is simply inefficient. My team stats:

  • HP: 3214
  • Red ATK: 1461
  • Green ATK: 353
  • Dark ATK: 508
  • RCU: 592

Is that good or bad? I have no idea! The guides are fairly unclear on these issues.

I find most guides annoying. Even though they are for “beginners”, they still don’t bother to explain any basic questions and use jargon freely without any kind of a guide on what any of it means. What the hell is a “sub”? Why do they use that word sometimes instead of Monster? What is a Pendgra? Why are they speaking of stage tiers even though there is no visual indication of that within the game? I think the worst problem is that I’m not sure on team composition yet. Should I use the dino-rider which seems cool since it can use both wood and fire, or is something else possibly better. Like should I look for evolving, uh, say an Ogre?

Anyway, any tips for someone who is stuck at the Castle of Satan? Should I just continue to grind until I get a better healer?

Depends on what monsters you have.

Subs are the monsters on your team that aren’t the leader.

pengdra are penguins you can get in technical dungeons (which unlock after you beat Castle of satan). You feed them 2550 exp, and then you can eat them for 9k exp or evolve them with the 2 of the colored dragons from the hourly dungeons and a dragon plant for 30k a bite.

The dungeons are arranged in patterns where most of the monsters are only one of the 5 colors, and then a ‘tower’ which has all the colors, and generally tougher bosses.

I can’t really recommend a team until I see what monsters you have to make it from, but the riders are pretty bad.

Honestly, if you’re not past CoS yet, it might be worth it to reroll until you get a (good) god

It certainly makes the conquest of the earlier dungeon a LOT easier if you get a good starting monster. Although in the long run it doesn’t matter, it does matter WHEN you get to the long run :P

I will try and add some clarity, forgive me if some of it is sucking eggs stuff.

Here is a link to team building that is a must read http://puzzleanddragonsforum.com/showthread.php?tid=2192

You have 5 team members, a leader and 4 subs.
You also have friends which you add and use as your 6th member and are also very important.

Lets start with your leader, when you start the game and do the tutorial you get a rare egg machine roll and you get a starter creature, after doing the 5 easiest dungeons you should have another 5 stones which gives you a second roll. Now these are pretty important as they guide you on your setup and starting teams.

Now all creatures have a team cost and the better the creature the higher they cost which can mean getting one while good you cannot afford to make a team with them yet.

Now most creatures have leader skills and secondary skills which you activate in game. The leader skills are very important. For example

Artemis has 2x Atk and 2x Hp for green attribute creatures. What that means is when you build a team of 5 green creatures all of them will do double damage and have double hit points. This makes you team 2x times stronger and 2x harder to kill. Even better get some artemis friends who are also x2 and all of a sudden you are x4 making you very powerful and with lots of hit points, however you will struggle with rcu(recovery or healing) so you are trying to kill them quickly.

Another option would be to use a Freja friend who has 2x atk and 2x rcu for green meaning lots of atk and plenty of hp and healing, its all about balance.

Anyways you really need leaders with multiplier leader skills of some sort, blocking damage against a specific colour while useful only works in those colour dungeons.

Here is a list of the best starter creatures, if you don’t want to restart and have very few decent leaders then it maybe worth spending some money on some stones and have 5 rolls on a godfest you should get something decent.

You really should read the above post to give you some help, its a quick and simpler read and will really help.

Now on to subs, at the start same colour teams are the easiest as matching 3 orbs of the same colour will make all your creatures attack and it is a lot harder to match 3 of each colour in 1 go so mono teams are easier.

Now to what subs to use, the main thing is there individual in game skill. For example in a green team a mystic green knight changes red orbs to green every 9 turns, so you need subs that enhance your team, for example on a healer team a Valkyrie changes hearts to yellow and a siren healer turns red orbs to heal orbs, so you use siren followed by valkyrie and you get half a board of yellow orbs to use say against the boss level.

Here is a simple guide to what subs you can farm for, remember the drop rate is very low so it may take a while to get them. Also the special dungeons appear every few weeks and are worthwhile doing regardless as some of the creatures they drop will become useful as you progress and find you now need them.

Now to the dungeons, you have 3 types of them, normal, special and technical that appear after doing Castle of Satan, the dungeons get harder as they go with a big step at CoS and Ocean of Heaven i think.

List of the normal dungeons http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/normal-dungeons.asp

Now to special dungeons, these normally have decent creatures in which are normally possible to do at any level and have more chance of dropping the good stuff. You should do these dungeons as often as you can and you will get some decent drops, like Mystic knights, Echidna, Pierdrawn and so on, it may take some time and you may need to run then 7 or 8 times but it really is worth it.

Here is a list of the special dungeons so you can see what you can get and remember it may not be just the boss but others in the dungeon that are worth having.

http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/special-dungeons.asp

Now the Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday dungeons have the materials you need to evolve you creatures and the harder levels are pretty hard until you get the right team and so you need a Zombie team or an Odin team. If you don’t have a decent healer, or an odin this is where your friends come in as they can supply them and those of us that still play have these creatures to help you.

Link to zombie team and how to do it is in the beginners guide to team building but is simple enough for anyone to do.

Additional things, use the pad forums to find out quick answers when stuck, also use it to find friends that have creatures that support your team and play, no point having friends you never use, get friend codes from the forums and send requests, people will accept you and it will make things much easier

Make sure those of us that still play are on your friends list most of us will have what you need. Hanacker, Hansey, Reemul, Maku and Jim defintely still play.

Maybe those still playing could put there codes up so Mixuk and Fire can use us.

To add Mixuk if you are playing the Uk version let me know and i will get you my uk code and friends codes soyou can add them all as there arent as many players yet.

Let me know if any of you need any more information and I will see what i can put up.

Wow, what a fantastic post, thank you so much. That clarified a ton of things and gave me a sense of direction. I’ve sent the friend request. My ID is 785,143,247.

I’ve been playing this game for about three weeks now and loving it. More than anything, I like that it’s a standard Japanese-style mobile game with the addition of actual gameplay, and I like that the developers seem to be prioritize “making a cool game for people to play” over “making money”; though I haven’t bought any magic stones myself, judging from the game’s success, their approach seems to be working pretty well, and I’ll gladly buy Puzzle & Dragons Z on release if/when it comes to the US.

Current team:

Incarnation of Byakko, Haku +2 LV.44
Brachys LV.MAX (evolving as soon as I get another max-team-cost boost)
Empress of Serpents, Echidna +1 LV.23
Sundragon Pterados +4 LV.22
Aurora Dragon +2 LV.32

Oddly, I’ve found “run every color a dungeon allows” to work far better for me than “run one color.”

Unfortunately, my friends list is full, but if slots ever open up, my ID is 385,706,355.

The temptation to spend large sums of money definitely grows the more you play, but as long as you get a decent leader god early (and luckily for you, Byakko is one of the best), Gung Ho does a pretty good job (for a F2P game, at least) of letting you progress for free.

Oddly, I’ve found “run every color a dungeon allows” to work far better for me than “run one color.”

I couldn’t imagine going mono-color in the beginning either (and fortunately I got Isis after hitting a wall of frustration, and she’s the antithesis of that), but I got used to it pretty quick. On your Byakko team, your Brachys and Sundragon are mostly dead weight, and you will have to replace them with something dark, red, or blue before long (probably by Castle of Satan, but she’s a strong enough lead to carry a less-than-deal team pretty far).

I actually started with Jotunn, but dropped him from my team early on when I started wanting to have more than three monsters in my party (that 20 cost is killer at the beginning), and never brought him back (though he leads my tricolor team). Now that he’s got a fire/light ultimate evolution coming, I may start working on him again, but I plan to keep Echidna in my main team for the foreseeable future, especially if she ever gets a proper dual-element ult evo.

Also, I found Castle of Satan to be pretty easy with a worse team than the one I’ve got now (had the four-star version of the fire starter dragon instead of Echidna), and since then, I’ve been working on technical dungeons (love the alternate music) and evolutions. I’m currently working on farming up a bunch of Dragon Plants so that I can make evolved Pengdra (picked up ten Sapphire Dragons and nine Metal Dragons during hourly dungeons earlier) and feed them to Haku and Aurora Dragon.

As far as my two starter dragons, I’d like to replace them with dual-type monsters that take advantage of Haku’s ability while still covering the two remaining colors, but all of my options there are REM pulls (which I’ve mostly avoided; I have Haku because I decided to use a single pull during the Midnight Gala/Godfest overlap, and happened to get the exact monster I wanted), drops from dungeons I don’t have enough max stamina to attempt yet, or ult evos I’m not remotely close to collecting the required materials for. For now, I haven’t had any issues with the team I’ve been running, but I’ll make some changes once I get more max-team-cost increases.

I wouldn’t mind getting back to this but relearning about my creatures is a pain. I have a padherder account. Is there any way to automatically get everything listed there or do I have to do it manually?

Manually, just put up your best stuff here, anything with multiplier leader skills. Say any leaders under each of the 5 colours as well as what you think would be good subs then we could advise you.

Listed by name and then level.

Purple
Vampire Lord 62
Persephone 26
Hades 10
Thanatos the Dark Elemental 30
Dark Courier Kurone 44
Lilith 32
Keeper of Rainbow (used on purple team for HP)

Red
Horus 37 (my normal lead)
Firedragon Tyrannos 1
Emperess of Serpents Echidna 24
Titan (didn’t write down his level)

Yellow
Archangel Metatron 4
Amaterasu 30
Holy Dragon 53
Pterados 32

Green
Ceres 33
Flowerdragon Brachys 32
Brachys 22
Dragon Kmight 66
Armor Ogre 18

Blue
Aurora Dragon 49
Shardra 12
Enchantress of the Sea Siren 31
Hatsune no Tsubone 40

There are a few more (some mystic knights and a dragon rider) but nothing important. I’ve run all sorts of monocolor teams (no yellow) and Horus lead rainbow teams.

If you can semi-consistently activate Horus, that’s going to be your best lead. You can maybe go mono dark with ultimate evo Vampire, Healer with Metatron and a Meta or Valkyrie friend, or go attacker with ultimate evo lilith (Angelits required, though), but all those are a little ways off. Strongest right now would be Horus leads with a rainbow of your monsters with the best stats. Unfortunately, you have nothing with dual colors, so you aren’t going to be able to fit Echidna on the team unless you use an Isis or Bastet friend.

Persephone is good too if you can get her evoed to have 1.5x atk/hp/rcv. Toss in your vampire lord, hades, and then as many rainbow keepers as you can fit in your cost, and then dubmythlits for all the rest of your slots. Pair with a friend batman or loki for normal dungeons, or SoD lucifer for ones you need more HP for

As mentioned Horus is probably your strongest team if you can do the orb matching, an UE vampire is also pretty good.

Another option depending on cost is the healer team below.

Light Metatron - Yellow - cost 30/50/60
Siren - Blue - cost 13/23
Hatsume - Blue - cost 12/17/27
Lilith - Purple - cost 13/23
Echidna - Red - cost 13/23

This team at 5* only costs 81 which is very cheap.

Amaterasu and Ceres at full ultimate evolution are both healer sub types and cost 30 each but would make for a better colour balanced team and change cost to 115 but could be something to work towards.

Also all the healers now have ultimate evolutions which are still pretty cheap at 23 cost and really add some decent hp and better healing if they are being used as a leader.

I am still a healer team fan, for quick dungeon runs on most dungeons its simple quick and effective. With a Warrior Rose friend you get 3.5 x 3 and another Metatron you get 3.5 x 3.5 which is a 10.5 spike team with no effort like Horus which is a must match 4 sets. I am not sure how much cost you have but it is something you could put together.

Also healers are not that expensive in general until you get in to a team of all ultimate evolved ones.

I haven’t been a noob in so long that I overlooked this, but if you’re having trouble with Horus this probably is your best short term option. The monsters you’d be leveling up are all useful in a variety of teams too. x3 attack isn’t the best (especially compared to double Horus x16) but you’ll be tanky enough that it could carry you pretty far.
