QT3 in Space! (Distant Worlds Interactive AAR)

Burn Heretics!

BTW, I’m trying to keep the top post updated with status updates on our various characters. With any luck we’ll get a second system under our control before too long so Tom can run it into the ground.

Stardate 2754.08.25

More escort ships are sent to the Nabuu system to reinforce Captains Chaplin and Willk0 against in the incoming pirate horde. Factory workers pull extra shifts at the EM616 shipyards to try and keep up as more escorts are queued. Anticipating our imminent victory against them, a new construction ship is commissioned at Quarterville itself, ready to rebuild in Nabuu as well as expand our mining operations to nearby Tarsont.

Captain Dreamshadow’s new mission is almost over before it begins, as he is ambushed while exploring an asteroid field by the pirate fleet that was driven away from Nabuu! Explorers are not made for fighting, but he manages to engage his Gerax Hyperdrive in time to escape…

Stardate 2754.09.19

Capt. Brandon Clements safely escorts our first colonizer to it’s target, and Dirra 2 becomes our first offworld colony!

Stardate 2754.08.25

Sending fleets directly off the assembly lines down to Nabuu has caused refuel & resupply problems, and the Indomitable missed a major battle while refueling back at Quarterville. Fortunately the Infrangible, along with a handful of escort reinforcements, have been dispatched to fill the gap.

Stardate 2755.01.11

One year since the QT3 Empire began to expand outwards to the stars. So far we have little to show for it other than numerous pirate skirmishes. But things are starting to look up. Captain Sinfony earns a feather in his cap for his discovery of the Deluxina system, which contains a habitable world! A colony ship has been dispatched and should arrive within the month. Governor Chick is making preparations to establish the first extra-solar permanent colony, and word is that he is already preparing to make sure the colonists give every ounce of effort they have for the greater glory of QT3.

Mining operations have expanded to Galactic East, into Pudires and Bisteni. Let us hope there are not new clans of pirates awaiting us there, as our shipyards can barely keep up with the current demand.

Speaking of pirates, Capt. Dreamshadow has made an important discovery – the location of the Lone Rock Gang’s base, hiding out in the oxygen gas clouds of TG384. He now moves on to an even more dangerous mission, crossing Jirejadur Drift in search of what lies beyond…

This sounds pretty cool. Sign me up as Governor Mind Elemental, builder extraordinaire!

I find my colony made of brick, and I leave it made of marble.

ETA: Uh, I’m assuming being a builder extraordinaire is possible, i.e. planetary development is modelled as something like MOO2 or Galciv rather than the two sliders of SOTS.

i would like to sign up as captain schurem of the warship Red October

I would like to sign up as an espionager and also, I demand the first colony be named Chogglepants. It is a condition of service.

loving the thread Xemu :b:

ZakGordon Explorer/scout(ship) type signing for duty sir! (square-jawed, thinks with pants not brain, all round dumb jock type with an eye for the alien ladies!)

Kieron “Fucking” Gillen, into exploring. EXPLORING THE UNDERGARMENTS OF ALIENS.

KG

Neat! Sign up Smoothie for some starship captaining. Captaincy. What have you.

Well Xemu you’ve pretty much sold me on Distant Worlds already, so thanks for that. I can’t wait for the next update.

Love to sign up as a Captain of the good ship Excalibur. (Preferably a nice big one)

I’ll be a spy with Demon G. since your cadre of spies seems to be wanting.

I could spend an hour trying to come up with a cool name, but will go with Ty Slate. Not sure what all the defining characteristics of an espionage agent are, but I will act as an honorable saboteur who aggressively seeks destruction, but only of those races that are perceived to be truly malevolent. Or an approximation of that…or something.

Neat. I am excited.

Oooh, a codename…damn let me get one.

Edit: Lead Grub

I’d love to be an espionage agent. Codename “Kid Socrates.”

Now to not read this for fear of buying another game… ah hell, I just hope it’s not expensive.

you can get it for 40 bux plus 4 dolllar dl charge from matrix… i think its worth it since there doesnt seem to be any other 4x space game like it. it has a casual/hardcore appeal imo. automate/micromanage as much as you like! it might not have the bells and whistles of a Sins or Swords, but it more than makes it up for it in other departments… especially the empire building feel.

Academy report summary. Notes to Assignment Co-ordinators:
Undergraduate Kirian Scurana [Was named “Big Bear” by fellows. I did not dare ask- Head Proctor]
Specialisation: Theoretical Social Management.
DoS notes:
Prone to over-liberal social policies. Coupled this with a predilection to reward guts over standard fiscal practice [c.f. The Social Calculator 01/2783, “The Loom of Social Fabric”, F. Provost, M. Korgan, K. Scurana] is perhaps a recipe for a clumsy disaster. He barely keeps the balls in the air with the aid of perhaps more able-bodied advisors. They do, perhaps by some miracle of his personality or a kind and smiling celestial alignment (Pshaw…) they do. Just. However, he churns out ideas no end and so I recommend a junior position while we train him to stay on the leash.
Tutor’s notes: A bright young thing given to outward optimism. Copes poorly with personal failure. Will talk to any and everyone perhaps regardless of standing.

-K-man, looks like you’re off on the fast-track to colony management. Couldn’t keep me on the ground for the love of many good women.
S.P.
P.S. Standard disposal procedure for this. Also, looks like there are some senior colony managers you may butt heads with. G’luck.

If it’s possible, I’d love to add myself as Delta: Espionage agent - unsure as to whether or not it’s cooler to be the suave Sean Connery spy type or the brutal Jason Bourne espionage type so veers wildly between the two.

Make me a military captain, please. I’ve actually got this game and my first attempt had practically everything automated - it was great to watch my empire grow.

Tip: You don’t need to pay the $4 DL charge. Erik at Matrix has pointed out numerous times that Digital River requires the Extended DL Service to be added to the cart, but you can remove it before checkout.

They have an agreement with DR that all their games have unlimited downloads for as long as they are in business.

If you can Xemu, please rename my ship to the Stringer Bell

Demorve reporting for duty. This is gonna seem strange, but I want you to design me a kick ass construction ship and make me the captain of it. I would like this construction ship to be the one that follows our brave captains into battle and repairs them when needed. Remember fellas all good navies need their supply sarges.
