Bolting a blob - if successful - kills whatever is trapped in the blob. If there’s nothing trapped in the blob, then it kills the blob itself, but that’s usually a waste of a magic bolt.

Classic Chaos Reborn move: run up within 3-4 hexes of wizard, blob wizard, cast magic bolt on wizard on the next go, watch wizard explode in spectacular fashion. Moral of story: stay out of blob range!

My wizard, atop a Manticore, sitting on a level 3 mesa, having cast a Shadow Tree up there to block ingress. Thraeg surrounds the hill with his elephant-riding wizard, a vampire, a hellhound, and a unicorn.

The manticore has the right idea: cover your eyes and weep! But I had a magic bolt, which killed the elephant, and then with a 50% chance of success, the manticore flew down behind the wizard and won the battle. Had the manticore not won – damn.

Rematch at the palindromic 107701.

I am actually controlling this game on behalf of Smaug the crocodile. He’s an avid player, although prone to making snap decisions.
