A tight back and forth game that ended with my wizard being surrounded by a dragon, a hellhound, and a dwarf. In my favour I had a shield, a bow and a sword. The dwarf rid me of my bow before I sliced its head off, and I managed to survive several attacks from both hellhound and dragon. Killing the dragon netted me enough mana to cast a lot of unicorns, and then the turn timer ran out. I won on VP, but I wasn’t expecting to survive that final onslaught!

In our CR game you said that your Giant Spider could not kill my vampire but it could web it. Does that mean that it has a magic web attack but a non-magic melee attack? I feel that actually there is another factor which eludes me.
I asked this question in the game but I realise that the answer would be handy before I move. I did wonder whether your giant’s boulder could crush my undead, but now I think not.
Meanwhile you told not to underestimate my position. I do indeed have those undead - but I am trying to understand how much countering strength you have behind your own front line.
The spider’s web attack will bind any creature regardless of whether it’s undead or not, but the spider itself cannot melee attack undead. So, I could skitter up to your vampire, web it, but then be unable to attack it the next turn. Only undead, magical attacks, or the wizard’s undead killer ability can kill undead, but they can be webbed, blobbed, paralyzed etc.
You’re right, the giant’s bounder attack cannot be used against undead.
Your position is strong because the only creature I currently have that can kill your undead army is my vampire, and my wizard (melee, and magical attacks… if I had any). Of course, there are other tactics that I can use, but I can’t give away all my options!

Anyone know if they’ve said whether our gear/levels from the current progression mode will get wiped at some point? I’m already liking this mode less than the classic random/even playing field mode, and if the experience and items will eventually go poof that’s even more of a reason to take a break from it.

Yes, there will be at least one complete wipe before release according to JG. This current release is intended to test the RPG and talisman mechanics, and there’s a lot of balancing yet to do, which is kinda the point of Early Access but also kinda sucks for those of us wanting a balanced playing field. However, it must be said it doesn’t take many wins in ranked mode to get enough XP to level your wizard and gear to around 10; right now I consider that about right for balance, before you start being able to use talismans (some of those are a bit unbalanced atm).
Snapshot normally release a new version around the start of the month, so fingers crossed we’ll have classic mode back in a little over a week, but there’s also rumours that the next patch will focus on the single player campaign and might not arrive until June.
