CR: rob > belouski
My paladins formed a scrum and pressed belouski back. His staff gave him skeletons which could not withstand my paladins. After they had cleared the way with a spot of lucky giant-felling my single skeleton snuck in to grab the kill with a 39% shot.

BA in progress result:
Thraeg routs Belouski in first round of the match on Desert Fort.
7 - 0 on VLs
18 - 4 on casualties
2 turns remaining
This scenario felt like it favored me as the Allies, thanks to having the first turn and the ability to get to the central fort first and take up defensive positions. I took positions in the outer wall but left the central keep VL unclaimed in the hopes that he would assume I hadn’t reached it yet. This paid off with an ambush of an APC and the infantry it was carrying as they drove through the gate. From there, I used the high ground to win a couple of tank engagements, and pressed the advantage to a full wipeout of the enemy forces. Belouski, I did lose sight of your last infantry there – would be nice if this game had a Frozen Synapse-style “enemy last seen location” indicator.
We’re a couple turns into the mirror now, and it definitely feels tougher.
Carcassonne
Rob > craiggiarc
A great match which featured a 32 tile Cathedral mega-city and an 11 city field. Many expansions were deployed.
In my results list, I have a win over Mr. Bolt from June 10 (reported here, too.).
However, I’m almost sure that was a previously-begun “regular season” game.
As we are not currently in a game, I will begin one now, and we can designate it as a playoff. Unless JB remembers it differently or anyone has any objections?

BA in progress:
Thraeg (Axis) repulses Dave (Allied) attack on Road to Caen
5-0 victory locations
24-10 casualties
3 turns remaining
The ferocity of the Allied attack apparently caught the Axis troops off guard, as they were strung out at several different locations along the highway. I scrambled to get an AT gun emplaced in a bunker on Hill 304 to slow them down, but it was quickly overrun. However, a paratrooper squad hidden in a house next to the eastern road got the drop on a Sherman tank rolling past, darting out to attach satchel charges.
The British completely forgot that they had artillery barrages available to call in for the first few turns, then foolishly advertised that fact in a text to the enemy commander. With the advance warning, the Germans pulled most of their troops back from the target village of La Bijude, letting the British take it and then counterattacking with their own artillery and a pincer of armor from the East and West.
The Allied Sherman tanks outclassed the Axis armor, and racked up several vehicle kills, but a Panzerschreck hidden in the forest ambushed another one with its bazooka, and a Stug tank destroyer and Puma light tank rushed forward to wipe out the last one. The British flamethrower troops also caused quite a bit of damage, but were eventually caught out and destroyed.
Finally, with the writing on the wall, a final holdout British mortar team kept harassing German infantry until it too was overrun. And a Bren APC tried to repeat the “end-run around the battle to capture rear victory location” tactics that had almost won the battle in North Africa. But this time its German counterpart the SDKFZ251/1 carrier saw it coming and raced to park itself on the “To Caen” VL first. With only piddly machine guns, neither vehicle could threaten the other, so the drivers stared balefully at each other from a distance of a few yards until the Stug slowly trundled up to put the Bren out of its misery.
Mirror rematch in progress now.
Are you guys playing BA on Pc or IPad? Would love hear some impressions on iPad play since that is the more typical device I have access to.

I’m on PC (don’t have an iPad, and got interested in this game because I was searching for async games on PC or Android), but the multiplayer is cross-platform, and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be disappointed in that version. I haven’t seen anything that seems like it would be hard to translate, and Pocket Tactics loved it:
Battle Academy for iPad is the game I’ve wanted ever since I held a tablet computer in my hands for the first time.
…
Even though Battle Academy is a port, the game feels like it was made for the iPad. The touch controls are impeccable and the game handles multitasking perfectly. The graphics (especially since the post-release retina update) are lovely and detailed.
…
I wouldn’t have blinked at paying $20 for Battle Academy for PC on Steam – on the iPad it’s arguably worth more, given that there are almost no other games worth mentioning in its category. In price, content, and execution, Battle Academy is a proud game from another time. And worth every penny.
I had just read that review a few minutes ago. Ugh I am so torn at the moment. I have waited on backing the Epic kickstarter and now you guys make this sound great plus it’s async.

Can’t speak for everyone, but I’ve been enjoying it a lot, and would be glad to have you join us. By the way, one perk about being on iPad is that even though you couldn’t get the base game for super cheap in the recent Humble Slitherine bundle, if you do decide to get it you can tack on the sequel for $10 more, whereas that goes for $40 by itself on PC.
Yeah, BA is probably my favorite leaguelet I’m in at the moment (sorry chaos!). I’m also on pc, so don’t know about how it does on iPad.
The interface seems born for iPad!
Speaking of Chaos.

Disc Drivin’

A closely fought race but then we both got greedy - powering ahead without paying proper attention to the pitfalls lying in wait. I stumbled out of that debacle just ahead and then managed to keep calm, not lose my advantage, and win the race.
Meanwhile I have managed to power over the winning line in a race with Dave - then hit a flipper, get thrown off the track and be returned to my starting position. I suspect that Dave has a good shot at snatching victory from me - but nothing is done until it’s done and done properly.
