Like, should I care about the campaigns? Do I only level up by playing online? Do I get extra perks for leveling up? Or is that just status?
The campaigns, like the AI, will give you some practice - but you only level up by playing online games. No perks for higher levels, just status and an aid to matching for random games (I heard you will be matched with players within 5 levels but I don’t play randoms so no experience of that).
The campaigns are designed to present specific challenges which can require particular tactics to win. The first campaign’s third match was a difficulty spike for me - but got easier when I understood what was going to happen and thus what was needed to win.

Thanks, rob.
Some of the campaigns remain locked to me and I was wondering if there were more cards or bonus powers (or anything like “seasons” in Ascension). So, if I’ve played all of the campaigns then I’ve seen all of the cards, right? There’s just one deck with four factions split between ships and bases. That’s it. The rest is tactics within that framework?

Since Star Realms would not take non-letters in my handle I’m Klemnop there. Anyone feel free to send me Funsies while I’m learning.

SR3 Ron > jaygittings Consistently behind until the last few turns, when my deck (which I thought was pretty good all along) finally started to click.
I keep wondering what you mean by “seasons” in Ascension.
I concur with your quick wrap up about SR’s structure.
Boss in chapter 1 is far more difficult than the Boss in chapter 2. Both of those matches are like the Heroic mode in HS. Off the charts dumb and brutal. All the other matches were okay, no big problems but those two…? I got the second one in about 30 tries and it probably took 40-50 tries for the first.

Dave,
You’ll find I “get” the games but often times miss the finer details. I think they are actually called “Events” in Ascension. But they feel like seasons and that’s how my brain must process them. I also call most of the heroes “Dude”. Spirit Dude. Draw Three Punt Two Dude. I got the concept but I’m not great with the names always.

I actually forgot to use my available firepower on either Turn 1 or Turn 2. I’m still getting all the turn mechanics. I can’t recall if it was 1 or 2 attack points. If it was 2…bummer.

Is it true that I have to keep refreshing the online lobby to see if I have an active turn in a game? No push notifications? And I can’t just stay logged in to a game and watch my opponent play “live”? I have to refresh after he has finished his turn?
Just checking that I haven’t missed a setting.

Notifications seem to work well on the PC version, and poorly on the iOS version. I haven’t used the other ones.
Yeah, the iOS app is just the PC version with minimal change - so no use of even icon app badges to show that a game is waiting. It does the job for playing the game but does not compare well to the slickfest that is Ascension - as kl3mnop is now experiencing.
You can play live SR games, but the turns are submitted when finished, so you see them not in actual real time like in Ascension. I prefer SR’s approach myself, but doubt that I’m in the majority.

GG. I was worried on that last turn that you would finish me off when i hit 13. I drew a big hand for the next turn and knew i would win if i survived your next response. Ah, the exquisite pain of anticipation while waiting for your turn to process.
Vormithrax, you’re deck was better tuned. I still haven’t wrapped my head around a solid strategy yet. Good game!
Disc Drivin’ rob > jay > craig
We were on Flip Out which resulted in thrills & spills with many unwanted trips sideways off the track or back to the start. I finished just ahead of Jay, being careful not to hit the flipper beyond, go off track and nullify my turn. Not that something so galling has ever happened to me before. Ever. Good game all!
Star Realms rob > jay
Tight game, I started off well, Jay came back strong and had the edge over me but then faded a little just as I got some traction to squeeze home the win.
