I realize there’s a whole genre designed for people I can’t be around that are exclusively about two people…slowly…excruciatingly…deciding…to become monogamous in spite of their mutual attraction and lack of other onscreen candidates. But Bridesmaids, Neighbors, and LaLaLaLaLand contain cool storyline mileage like forming a sellout band with John Legend, neighbors, and girl-on-girl warfare. Rom-coms: settle for less.
This was a surprisingly likable movie–a good fantasy tonic for today’s administration.
