I know search around here has been a little iffy for a while, but recently it just totally stopped working for me. i never get any results anymore, no matter the search criteria. hell, i’ve resorted to using google to search qt3. does anyone know what is going on? sorry to make this new thread as i know there have been other ones like it, but search didn’t bring anything up. ;)
Try Google.
I’ve been using this for a while, it’s always been better than the forum search.
The forum search allows you to use google. I always do.
OP says he’s already using Google. I’ve found the forum search has been getting weaker, too, but I still get results. But I recommend always searching by user name, forum, and by thread titles, not bodies, if you can. Usually trying something more specific will work, too. If it’s too general, the search will break.
The built-in search isn’t great, but I just tried it out and it seemed to work OK. Try using the integrated google search, at the very top of your screen next to “new posts”, click “search”. Works better for me.
yeah, google search is ok, but i prefer the finer tuning possible with the built in search functions. for example, i like to do almost all searching via thread title. google doesn’t allow you to specify this.
a couple months ago i could do a thread title search for “civilization 4” and get a few hits. i do the same search today and get “sorry - no matches” and a “the following words are too common” result. i don’t remember getting that at all in the past. something is borked.
Ok, I admit, he may not be using the integrated Google search or even the site: thingy, but still.
I’ve definitely seen this before, so it’s not just you.
Into Google itself or your Google search bar, type:
site:quartertothree.com “search terms”
That “search terms” is with the quotes.
Results 1 - 50 of about 495 from quartertothree.com for “civilization 4”.
Granted, most appearances of “Civilization 4” are probably going to appear in threads about Civ4, but you’re going to get a lot of other stff along with that.
It seemed to be working fine until very recently.
That was my bad. I had accidentally switched off the full search function. It’s fixed now.

Ahhh so you did click “do it” on that page! It all makes sense now.
Ah, cool. Everything is working fine now. Thanks Tom.
