getting an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX AMD Motherboard
I want about 4 gigs of ram. I was thinking crucial or corsair. Any recommendations on what to get. I don’t know much about ram Twinx, buffered, etc. If it helps it will be for video editing and gaming. Any suggestions or links would help.
It’s good that you want about 4 gigs of ram, because that’s actually the maximum RAM you can install on that motherboard.
Get four 1GB modules of unbuffered Corsair RAM and be done with it. Memory speed isn’t going to make any difference in video editing, or even in hi-res gaming for that matter, so don’t get lost in all those worthless 2-5-5-8-2T memory timing numbers and all that.
Buy two of these and you’re done:
