Great actor - for someone who got into it late in life! His roles in Godfather II and Apocalypse Now! were minor but to me helped give those films and scenes he was in a certain flavor.
He was fantastic in The Godfather II. His mispronunciation of Vito (Vigh-do) at Michael’s son’s birthday party is such a telling and hilarious touch.
He was great in Tank as well.

Don’t forget he was also the head coach (clearly based on Tom Landry) in the movie version of “North Dallas Forty,” one of the best football films ever made (IMHO.)
