Racing games - GTR, Race07, Rfactor, etc

Do existing owners get Steam codes?

Yes. There’s a page on the Reiza website where you enter your registered email address and they give you a Steam code.

As is customary for Stock Car Extreme, I had so much fun running a race tonight that as soon as I crossed the line, I started another one.

Here’s the last two laps of the second race - the winning margin is a a little tight.

Kunos made a deadline?

Dream Pack DLC (10 cars plus laser-scanned Nurburgring) will be out in a week. Regularly $15, preorder for $10.

One of the track configurations they’re including is the “bridge to gantry” tourist/street circuit with entry, exit, and parking lot along the main straight. I had never heard of that configuration before. (Check the lower right part of the track in that image.) I hope it’s nice and atmospheric since I don’t know if I’ll ever check that one off my bucket list.

I suddenly have a lot to play this month with Hotline Miami 2, Assetto Corsa, and Eternity.

I’m waiting on Dream DLC until I see if they’ve actually fixed the AI.

Currently it’s dumb as rocks and eats all your CPU while drooling over itself.

They say it’s better in 1.1, but you know how that goes.

Anyway, I could probably spend the next three months hotlapping Spa, Trento Bondone, and Nordschleife.

Are there even enough cars to make more than a 2-car “class” in AC? I miss GTR2’s season mode.

With the new NisMo I think there’ll be four GT3 cars: McLaren, BMW, Merc, NisMo.

Then there’s two GT2, (three, if you include the P4), and a GT4, (two, if you include the Evora GX).

With the quality of the AI in R3E and SCE and humans to race in iRacing, AC has fallen completely by the wayside. I used to adore thrashing the Tattuus open wheelers around with the AI, but now I apparently need to have Deep Blue under my desk to put 10 cars on the grid and have them not drive into each other. It’s a shame.

AI in sims is a mixed bag. I do time trials and race online with AC. As I have said before most of my racing is in a established league

Maybe same with shooters. I prefer fps games with ai. Many dps games these days seem to be mp focused with no or weak ai

I just need to say that the McLaren F1 in Assetto Corsa sounds unbelievably good (in a small room, with a sub, cranked to 11 - youtube videos don’t do it justice). It’s also incredibly fun to drive - flip the switch on the traction control and powerslide your way to glory around the 'ring! :)

RIDE is due to land on Steam on 27 March, but there’s a demo available right now, allowing you to pick one of three bikes and have a quick race around one of two layouts of the same track.

And bloody hell, it’s really rather good.

I’ve always found bike games to be super frustrating, because either the riding is way dumbed down to allow for the control methods, or the bikes are far too twitchy to be driven with a controller, but after just 20 minutes or so of this, I’m really digging it.

You can play twinstick style, where the left stick steers the bike and the right stick controls the rider’s position on the bike, or you can turn over weight transfer and the like to the computer. Similarly, the bikes themselves have a lot of options, from automatically controlling against wheelies, to the way the brakes work - front and rear independent, or locked.

Turning the wheelie control system down from “automatic” to “high” proved an exciting decision, as immediately the front wheel starts to come up under acceleration and the rear wheel comes up under heavy front braking.

In the race, there are exactly three settings available to be changed - front and rear suspension, allowing you to control ride height and over/understeer and then a single slider for gear ratios. There are a lot more options, but they’re padlocked away behind progression gates that you can’t unlock in the demo.

Demo’s free, obviously and while I don’t ride bikes, so I can’t “say try it, it feels like the real thing,” it’s definitely worth a shot. After three or so races, when I finally began to get a handle on something approaching bike control, this became a pretty high entry on my wishlist.

Also… pretty…

Here’s a five lap quick race on the Kawasaki Ninja.

Enjoy the Kawasaki Intelligent Traction Control™ desperately trying to keep up with the Bismarck Stupid Throttle Control. I like to think the twitching under power is a nervous tick the bike develops every time I get on it.

This feels a lot like the last one I tried, MotoGP 13. (I know it’s the same developers.) I never got frustrated with it. This one is perhaps a little less squirly but I only tried Semi-Pro. It looks a lot more attractive though.

I’ll have to wait until I hear what the free ride mode is like. Otherwise, I think I’ll wait to see how the GP Bikes sim turns out.

For a game that’s about to launch in a week on PC and consoles, there’s very little being said about Project CARS.

I can’t even find a current list of the vehicles that will actually be in the game at launch.

I paid for it way back when it first became available. I have had one single email from them since Oct 2012, which was about the finalised distribution last month. They are terrible at keeping the casual ‘investor’ up to date on progress or content.

I don’t know what to expect when it releases either. I played both Assetto and Project Cars a few months back (before the former was officially released). Switching between the two, I had a significantly better impression of the Assetto driving model, from a simming perspective.

Yeah, I get the sense that they don’t want to upset their “investors” so they keep a lot of information in the exclusive backer forum to make them feel special. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a car sim like this that didn’t brag about the car list. When you go to official site to look, all you get is a few sample shots of the car categories. Lame.

Also, a season pass popped up on a UK site for sale.

Speak of the Devil. They just released the official list on their page too.
