Thats probably about how much I have left, really. At this point I feel like I just want to power through until the end and be done with it. The reuse of areas and quest setups is really getting annoying.

I’m on the final mission so I’ll probably finish the game tomorrow. I was going to do it tonight, but it crashed on me so whatever. The second to the last mission was so easy and quick I almost laughed after Captain Sheriff made such a big deal about it. At least the one before that was reasonably fun, balloon bombs aside. But really, the wasteland is a piece of cake when you have the boomerangs of death that even take out heavily armored guys and often kill two or three enemies at a time. I wasted so much ammo earlier before I realized that.
And since the game hasn’t bothered to answer its own question about what makes my character so “special,” I’ve decided its because I’m the only human who can carry 19 guns, thousands of rounds of ammo, a hundred explosive boomerangs, 37 robots, and all the spare parts I need with me. Take that, realistic apocalypse!

I’m 8 hours in and still having a blast. I’m doing side missions off the jobs board in Wellspring and generally just taking my time and soaking up the game. I really like it!

A warning to people that has not completed the game: If you rush the main missions, you will complete the game very quick. Maybe is a good idea to do all the misc missions and stuff, and ignore the main quest for a while, maybe.

Many games designers think its their job to tell stories, but games isn’t a story medium, they should go write books or make films.
I think he missed the last ten years. Story and characterisation is becoming an increasingly important part of games, and the idea of an “experience” in FPS is currently dominant in the single-player arena.
It might not be what he wants, but the ship he wants has sailed.
There are plenty of developers and gamers that still feel that way. Personally, I think they’re holding back the development of a medium that could be excellent for story in its own unique way. The fact that games have thus far struggled with how best to tell stories and tended to have weak stories compared to other media does not automatically mean it’s something they should not be doing or are not good at. Look at comics - for years and years, hardly anything but the most ridiculous juvenilia, but in the last 30 years or so we’ve seen some phenomenal uses of the medium.
LOL, i love how people talks as if they would really know about the area they are referring to.

That guy is an idiot. It’s all the artists fault? Please.
Is this the best review of Rage ever?

That is awesome :-).
I was closer to endgame than I thought. Just finished. The ending really was quite underwhelming, but since I knew it would be, I am not that disappointed. Ending cutscene was not that bad (seen worse).
Took me 19 hours 20 minutes or so in total, which is pretty good for a shooter. Did most quests, found 17 jumps out of 18, did all the races and played shitload of card games :).
I really enjoyed it, both shooting and racing, and noncombat hub zone gameplay. I hope sales will be good and id will get to make a sequel, although I would hope better writer (and not some book writer aka Crysis 2 disaster, that game was even worse than Rage storywise) will be hired.
I think I will replay it once more patches and hopefully highres texture pack arrive.
Favourite combat location - Jackal Canyon. That was such an awesome level.
Also, this was my first first-person game ever that I played from start to finish on x360pad. It just felt better, with feedback, triggers, analog driving and walking, and super smooth 60fps aiming.

That’s the guy who made LOVE that shitty mmo that looks like someone threw up on the screen and made a fps under it.
Jackal Canyon is awesome looking. The game had some awesome levels in the second area (pity it wasn’t bigger): Jackal Canyon, Power Plant, Gearhead Vault, Blue Line Station and Distillery. The end is underwhelming as you say but the last level, “Capital Prime”, judged as his own, it’s also pretty good. The problem is that isn’t followed by an even more epic end level.
edit: Hell, the levels of the first area are also very good: Bash Mutant, the Prison, the Sewers, Dead City, the Shrouded base. Each one except maybe the Wasted garage and the first ghost area, which are merely decent.

I just finished the game. Steam says I played for 21 hours, though the last save I loaded (beginning of the last level) had me a 16.25 hours.
Ignoring the technical issues that took me a week to largely resolve, I’d say this is about a C+/B- game. It excels in the way it looks, the gunplay/combat, and some of the level design. The first time through Dead City was pretty epic. But the pacing is off, particularly the second half, which feels like they intended it to be a lot bigger. And I still think the game is somewhat unbalanced by the wingstick weapon - it kills just about everything - the end of game enemy was just me flinging wingsticks at them in the final open area.
And the story/setting? Well, ugh. Don’t expect a lot of it make sense or to understand just why your character is going along with all of this. As someone who generally sticks to shooters with a story, Rage just doesn’t deliver. Throw in the re-use of not only levels but quest hooks and you end up with a game that could have been a lot better.
I am just about to go break a guy out of prison, how far would you guys say i am ? Half way?

At least 2/3rds of the way I’d say.
Wow really? Well then I’ll finish up before Batman arrives on Tuesday. :)
