If Half-Life 3 is a cover-based shooter, something’s getting firebombed.
Finished after 21 hours… braced for a terrible ending I was pleased with how it went in practice.
Very mild spoiler
I’m surprised there was no attack on the towns. Given that creating levels seems to have been a bottleneck, I don’t know why they didn’t use the ones they had… Maybe dlc!
If I basically ignore the bits I thought were weak, the remainder was very high quality. No complaints really. Have just discovered I can play the coop stuff solo too, so it’s not even really finished. Yay :)

Get the FUEL RELOADED mod - it makes the game genuinely playable and unlocks a ton of stuff for you.
Half Life 2… now with ironsights!
HL2 Ep2 showed they still know how to do a great fps, but it’s worrying the time they are needing for Ep3.
Speaking about your spoiler, and your comment of the coop, there are not one but two levels of sweet combat in Wellsprings in the Coop.

Not really. Valve doesn’t polish turds, they flush them (see: the first-draft versions of HL and TF2). If history is any indicator, a long development cycle for them equals a superior final product.
Weirdly, Rage is now at, er, 38th on Steam.
16th for me, but yeah, clearly very low.
What i want to know is that they are going to do:
- cut their losses off with Rage, and refocus fully in Doom 4, to not make the same mistakes
2 work their asses off with Rage, to show people they will improve their game seriously post-launch, , Cd Projekt style, to regain people trust.
edit: LOL I had the same mistake as Alistair
D’oh. I confused the New Release and Top Seller list. Ignore my post. Steam says it’s selling not very well, not terribly. Sorry.
The apparent source says that Zenimax and Bethesda made the decision based on the “the issues and reviews” surrounding RAGE’s launch, which in their eyes has demonstrated “a serious lack of confidence in the project management at id”.
No kidding. Before they do another game they had best figure out (a) what game they want to make (if it includes anything other than shooting that part had better not suck), (b) on what platforms they want to release on (where the game actually works), and © how to make it in less than six years.

The latest is that the Doom 4 thing is untrue. From the twitter:

It it ain’t true, it oughtta be. They need PM and Creative Director/Lead Design changes desperately.
I can see Zenimax/Betheseda and id having a big, serious discussion about how to proceed in the next months and years after Rage not selling enough, but from there to the rumor of “let’s stall Doom 4!”… yeah, it didn’t make sense.
I totally blame Tim Willits. Never liked him. Maybe he is a good level designer, but i don’t think he have enough in him to direct a full AAA game as the lead designer.
Yeah, I doubt they’ve already come to the “screw Doom 4” point, but I imagine there may have been some serious discussion on future plans. Let’s face it, if id wasn’t doing Doom 4, what would they do?
They were dropping some hints of Quake V. But i would totally dig a new Commander Keen! :D

I’d be willing to bet that plans were ramping up for a Rage 2 team. Maybe not now, but still…
I am trying to “finish” the multiplayer (still have to complete 2 of the 9 coop missions on Nightmare, and I am level 14/20 in Road Rage) but the low player count in pc is making the task pretty hard. Because it works with p2p and there is few people, the game will connect me with far away players. Like with lots of russians.
Other than that, is it pretty easy to run through the co-op with random people? I’d like to do the missions but I doubt I’ll have any friends looking to play anytime soon. Unless someone here wants to join up. How many hours did it take you to do the first 7 co-op missions?
I agree so far. The first main mission in the second town was a good shooting gallery. I’d prefer that many enemies right from the start.
