Pretty much my view as well. That and the fact that the second part (when you move to the second hub town) is so short that you come away feeling like they planned a lot more and ended up with a much shorter game.

After a while when I zone out of town into the wasteland, I don’t get any textures–it’s a mass of gouraud shading. Anyone know how to fix this?
ATI card? Restart the game I’ve heard :(
Yeah or go back to Rage driver 2. My guess is the current full release, 11.10, uses Rage driver 3. That’s what gave me the problem.
I say bad. It would’ve cost a ton to make and it’s not gonna help them hawk their engine. Plus I can see it dropping off a cliff - doesn’t seem like a slow-burner kind of game.

It’s still #4, though, and we all know about the NPD accuracy issues. I’m actually surprised its that high, to be honest.

Finished it just now on easy in 9 hours. Sorely disappointing and underwhelming. Wish Bethesda would use something that looked this good for a Fallout game.
Although the bump-mapped textures and the space-marine-alike protagonist made the game look like a Prey sequel.
PRO: Better than DNF
CON: Worse than Borderlands or Fallout 3.
More on the bad side, it’s a five year development launched on three platforms with a good marketing campaign. They were supposed to sell three times more.

It’s not a long game to be sure, but the only way you finished it in 9 hours was by skipping stuff.
The weirdest point to me is that he says he played it on easy. WTF, the game is too easy on very hard and nightmare, and he goes and play it on Easy??

I’m starting Rage today, and I’m pretty excited, mostly because I want to see whether or not it looks as good as everyone says it will on my 360.

Bah. “Skipping stuff” and playing on easy is perfectly fine since I was in a rush to start Skyrim and the skipped stuff was pointless, meaningless padding in the form of side quests.

Also new AMD preview drivers for the upcoming Rage patch:
- Resolves some new texture corruption issues introduced by the latest version of the game
- Improved performance ~5%
- Smoother game play and reduces multicore sync points
- Fixed mapbuffer failures when switching maps on 32-bit systems.
- Fixed a game crash when switching maps back and forth on 32 and 64bit systems
15 USD on Steam today, which is actually not bad for this. No doubt it’ll be 2.99 next year, but still.
I’ll wait until next year then. ;) Looks fun though.
33 USD on Europe. :/
BTW, months after, they still haven’t released any mod tools. Disappointing.
I got it for $60 and I don’t regret it at all. If you like the type of game id typically makes, this is well worth $15.
